Pay Range$27.00 - $38.00 hourly. Salary offers are based on the candidate's equivalent experience and internal equity with other employees within the same job classification. The position is eligible for overtime compensation for all hours worked over 40 in the designated workweek.

About The PositionThe Operations and Maintenance division is a customer-driven team that provides day-to-day maintenance and ensures the successful operation of all County Facilities. FMD is seeking a full-time, skilled Electrician to perform journey-level activities, including installation, alteration, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems, who will deliver quality work and have a strong focus on customer service, to join our O & M team.
The workgroup consists of numerous crafts and specialty trades where teamwork is a priority, working in county buildings 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
As the landlord for all facilities owned by Maricopa County, the Facilities Management Department is responsible for the planning, design, construction, maintenance, and operations of more than 200 facilities comprised of over 10 million square feet. Facilities Management is made up of a collaborative team that provides and performs various functions to meet the facility-related needs of all Maricopa County Departments.

- Three years of journey-level experience in a commercial and or industrial electrical work environment
- High school diploma or GED
- Completion of an apprenticeship program or vocational education in the electrical field may substitute for up to one year of the experience requirement
- Successful candidates must currently possess, or have the ability to obtain, a valid Arizona driver's license by the time of hire
- Must complete a Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA) background investigation to access County detention facilities
- Five or more years of experience troubleshooting and repairing electrical systems within an institutional, industrial, or heavy commercial environment
- Diagnose and repair electrical motor control systems.
- Install electrical circuits from 120 V to 480 V; layout, bend, and install conduit
- Perform load calculations
- Maintain, repair, and perform preventive maintenance on electrical equipment and the distribution system
- Document information on the preventive maintenance program and maintain the major maintenance spreadsheet for pending repairs
- Modify and update systems to conform to code
- Perform inspections of building envelopes
- Estimate time and order materials for projects and repairs
- Other job duties as assigned
- Special working environments include, but are not limited to: adult and juvenile detention facilities; medical facilities, both detention and public health; forensic facilities; courts; and related justice facilities
- This position may require a rotating on-call/stand-by schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays
- Duties require lifting/ dead lifting (floor to waist) of up to 50 pounds, bending, twisting, squatting, pushing or pulling is required of up to 100 pounds, up to 100 feet while navigating through equipment rooms, on building rooftops, and in restrictive areas. Must be able to safely climb ladders, scaffolding, and step stools in the execution of duties. Requires bending, climbing, stooping, kneeling, and crawling in all indoor and outdoor environments.
Exposure to heights and uneven walking surfaces for the purpose of inspecting elevated building equipment - Incumbent may be subjected to extreme temperatures, wetness/humidity, respiratory hazards, and noise and vibration
