- Diagnose HVAC system performance through observation, testing, and setup based on trade/position and equipment type/size:
- Split systems up to 120 tons, mini split systems, 3 tons/multizone
- VRV heat pump/recovery, RTUS up to 150+ tons, WSHP up to 120 tons
- Self-contained systems, CRAC units, air/water cooled chillers
- Air-side, AHUs, EFs, pumps, and piping
- Coordinate work processes on large projects, ensuring timely completion and adherence to project specifications and deadlines
- Perform disassembly and reassembly of commercial and residential equipment for troubleshooting and planned maintenance per service agreements, ensuring optimal system performance
- Proficiently operate a range of hand tools, power tools, gauges, and measuring equipment to diagnose and maintain HVAC systems effectively
- Successfully complete service contracts, quoted projects, and respond to demand service calls promptly and efficiently as per company directives
- Develop long-term relationships with customers and explain work performed to the customer's satisfaction
- Communicate and document project status to all project stakeholders
- Serve as a lead and front-line resource to service technicians through technical support
- Coordinate the work of subcontractors, and train and provide guidance to technicians
- Purchase materials and issue purchase order numbers to suppliers
- Safely drive a motor vehicle and trailer, follow requirements of company vehicle driving policy and adhere to all company safety requirements
- Maintain equipment, tools, and inventory stock on service vehicle
- Minimum of 5+ years of relevant HVAC Service experience
- High School Diploma or GED
- Preferred:
Two-year technical degree in a related field - Must possess required registrations, professional licenses, or certifications as required by the position
- Advanced knowledge of service processes, techniques, and codes is required
- Knowledge of brand-specific controls (Siemens, Johnson Controls, Distec)
- Proficient in reading complex schematics and prints
- Able to perform as a self-managed individual
- Must be able to display a professional demeanor, solid interpersonal skills with good written and oral communication capabilities
- HVAC Unitary skills: split system (up to 120 tons), mini-split (up to 3 tons), VRV/VRH, roof top units up to 150+ tons, water source heat pumps up to 120 tons, self-contained systems (water-cooled and air-cooled) including CRAC units
- HVAC Chiller skills:
Air-cooled (Scroll/reciprocating, Screw, with VFD and Magnetic), Water Cooled (Scroll/reciprocating, Screw, Variable Speed Screw, Magnetic), Centrifugal Chiller Theory - Airside skills: VAV boxes, AHU operation and control valve operation; exhaust fans including various centrifugal and high pressure types
