Home at Happy Valley, is a 226 unit multi-family community with 5 apartment buildings, located in the City of Phoenix. (Happy Valley Road and 17 Avenue.)

Overview

Heavy equipment Operator is responsible for operating various heavy equipment machinery, including but not limited to the following types of equipment:

Looking for an Universal Operator

  • Finish Blade
  • Front Loader
  • Articulating man-lifts
  • Excavator (CAT 317)
Duties/Responsibilities
  • Operate heavy equipment to excavate, move, load and grade earth, rock, gravel and other materials efficiently to maintain project schedule.
  • Daily inspection of equipment before and after each use.
  • Ability to ensure housekeeping is followed, machine capacities are not exceeded and that tools, supplies and equipment are accounted for and properly secured at the close of each work day.
  • Complies with all SAM safety policies and wear proper safety equipment at all times.
  • Troubleshoot work related problems using experience, job knowledge, and by communicating with others to solve the problem.
  • Attend and participate in meetings including safety when required or requested.
  • Other related duties as assigned.
Education and Experience
  • Minimum High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of verified heavy equipment experience.
  • Forklift, MEWPs or other equipment experience and certification is preferred.
  • OSHA 10
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
  • Valid drivers license with clean driving record.
  • Must be willing to participate in the Companys pre-employment screening process, including drug screen and background investigation.
Required Skills/Abilities
  • Ability to work in a hot non-climate control environment.
  • Ability to utilize SAM Construction application on a smart phone, tablet or laptop.
  • Must be experienced and able to read, understand and interpret construction documents, drawings, specifications, scopes of work, estimating, and project schedules for constructability and conflict reviews specific to Multifamily construction.
  • Strong working knowledge of the local multifamily construction industry and subcontractors.
  • Understanding of construction equipment, including safe operating practices and signs of maintenance issues.
  • Demonstrated organizational and problem-solving skills and ability to adapt to changing needs.
  • Understanding building permit, approval and inspection processes.
  • Bilingual in both English and Spanish is preferred but not required.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills.
  • Excellent communication and partnering skills to work effectively with subcontractors, consultants, internal staff, and regulatory agencies.
  • Working Knowledge of OSHA regulations and accepted Safe Work practices for the Construction Industry.
Physical Requirements
  • Able to stand and walk project site for extended period of times.
  • Able to sit in cab for extended periods of time
  • Able to communicate, talk and/or hear.
  • Frequently required to use hands to finger, handle or feel.
  • Occasionally required to but not limited to reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop kneel, crouch, and/or crawl.
  • Must be able to ascend and descend stairs/steps into crane cab and/or forklift, and in proximity of loud equipment.
  • Must be able to lift and carry or otherwise move 50 pounds regularly/occasionally
  • Must be able to respond quickly to sounds.
  • Must be able to move safely over uneven terrain or in confined spaces.
  • Must be able to see and respond to dangerous situations.
  • Must be able to safely climb ladders while carrying up to 40 pounds.
  • Must be able to wear personal protective gear most of the day.
  • Must be able to work in hot and cold environments and on concrete floors.
