Responsibilities- Maintain, install, and repair plumbing fixtures and equipment, including valves, control devices, water mains, sprinklers, pumps, toilets, faucets, and sewer, water, gas, and airline lines.
- Clear stoppages in main lines, toilets, floor drains, urinals, and sinks; repair breaks and leaks; dispose of all waste properly.
- Repair digital motion and manual faucets, hand wash stations, mop sinks, and replace as necessary.
- Repair a variety of equipment and water-using appliances, recirculating pumps, and sewage injector pumps.
- Install new water-using appliances (e.g., dishwashers, water heaters, drinking fountains); repair and replace garbage disposals.
- Replace water lines and rusted, corroded galvanized pipe lines.
- Repair steam, cast iron, and gas lines.
- Maintain supply inventory, requisition supplies, and process work orders.
- Estimate the cost of materials and labor for each job.
- Maintain assigned equipment, tools, facilities, and vehicles.
- Make emergency service calls and assist other departments with tasks and projects as needed.
- Represent the Phoenix Union High School District professionally when interacting with students, parents, visitors, and school staff; maintain confidentiality of work‑related issues, client records, and school information; follow Governing Board policies; perform all other related duties as required or assigned.
- High School diploma or GED equivalent; AND a two‑year technical certificate in plumbing or a related field; AND four years of plumbing experience; OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Valid Arizona State Driver’s License.
- Licensed Journeyman Plumber at the time of hire, or 10 years of plumber experience.
- Active Arizona Department of Public Safety IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card (or obtain within first 90 workdays).
- Skill in installing, maintaining, and repairing plumbing and fixtures.
- Knowledge of plumbing systems, materials, and equipment; ability to analyze water system errors and troubleshoot.
- Planning, prioritizing, and completing assignments with minimum supervision.
- Compliance with safety policies, procedures, and practices.
- Follow verbal and written instructions and procedures.
- Effective verbal and written communication.
- Provide excellent customer experiences, interacting tactfully and courteously with the public.
- Commitment to creating and sustaining a thriving learning and working environment for students and staff.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships.
- Use initiative within organizational policies, procedures, and guidelines.
