Ironworker‑Welder at Sundt Construction

Location

North of Phoenix, AZ

Overview

Seeking structural welders for our project in north of Phoenix, AZ. Must have at least 3 years experience as a structural welder on commercial and/or industrial construction projects, must pass pre‑employment drug test, must be available for either day or night shift, and must pass a weld test testing 1" carbon steel plate in 2G, 3G, and 4G positions using 7018 rod (coupons will be x‑rayed).

Work schedule is 5–10 hours with possibility of overtime; anticipated duration 2+ months.

Pay is $34/hour plus hourly cash fringe benefit. Per diem/subsistence not offered.

Job Summary

Plan, lay‑out and perform all types of structural steel erection and fabrication work in accordance with all applicable plans, specifications, codes, and industry standards. Work in other crafts as appropriate to training and skill. Must be able to take direction from higher‑skilled workers or foremen.

  • Look for opportunities for improvement in all tasks, means, and methods.
  • Maintain positive working relationships with all crew members.
  • Produce high‑quality work safely and productively at all times.
  • Provide feedback to ensure all materials, tools, equipment and information are available for the work.
Minimum

Job Requirements
  • Ability to read drawings, specifications, safety and quality standards, and effectively use all relevant trade tools and equipment.
  • Experience:

    Level I – 3 years, Level II – 4 years, Level III – 5 years, Level Sr – 6+ years in industrial/commercial construction with in-depth ironworker trade knowledge.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
Physical Requirements
  • Wearing personal protective equipment (steel‑toed shoes, gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, hardhat, vest, etc.).
  • Reach above shoulder height and below waist frequently.
  • Stoop, kneel, or bend occasionally.
  • Use phone, computer, email or other devices occasionally to communicate.
  • Move in and around confined, cluttered and uneven areas.
  • Comply with all safety standards and procedures.
  • Use hands to grasp, lift, handle, carry or feel objects frequently.
  • Climb and maintain balance on steel/wood framework, stairs, ladders, and scaffolds.
  • Lift, push or pull objects up to 50 lbs occasionally.
  • Work up to 12‑hour shift in varying temperatures and outside conditions.
