The hourly rate for this position is between $31.00 and $55.00 per hour. Pay may vary by geography, skills, education, and experience.
Job PurposeThis position performs routine skilled and technical support work in the inspection, repair, and maintenance of transmission and distribution substation electrical equipment. The role requires working outdoors in all weather conditions and may involve exposure to chemicals, noise, vibration, and electrical hazards.
Responsibilities- Supervise and manage a team of field service technicians responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing transformers and substation equipment.
- Ensure all field service activities comply with safety guidelines and company policies.
- Plan and schedule field service activities, assigning tasks to technicians and coordinating with customers.
- Provide technical guidance and support to technicians, troubleshooting complex issues.
- Conduct performance evaluations and provide feedback to promote high‑quality work.
- Maintain service records, including calls, repairs, and customer interactions.
- Collaborate with engineering, sales, and other departments for effective coordination.
- Mentor field service technicians to enhance technical skills.
- Stay updated on industry trends and transformer technology to offer expert advice.
- Handle customer complaints and resolve issues promptly.
- Prepare and submit reports on field service activities, performance, and equipment status.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Competent in a fast‑paced, deadline‑oriented environment.
- Strong organizational, interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and basic computer operations.
- Valid driver’s license with a good driving record.
- Physical ability to crawl, climb, stand, and lift up to 50 lbs.
- Must pass a fit‑for‑duty exam.
- Availability for frequent overnight domestic travel and occasional international travel.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, overtime, weekends, holidays, and nights.
- 5+ years of hands‑on experience in high‑voltage testing of electrical power equipment.
- Scheduling experience.
- Experience with transformer manufacturing and testing.
- Experience with Doble, Megger, Vulcan/Omicron CT sets, and related devices.
- Knowledge of circuit breakers, transformers, switch gear, CTs, PTs, and CCVTs.
- Experience with transformer testing equipment such as Hi‑Pot, power factor, CT saturation.
