The full salary range for the position is ($79,968.24 - $) with an anticipated starting salary between entry ($79,968.24) and midpoint ($99,960.30) of the range. It’s essential to note that the actual salary offered will be determined based on several factors, including skills, qualifications, experience, education, certifications, training and internal equity considerations.
The Transit Security Coordinator performs, coordinates and monitors security related functions to ensure compliance with security programs including system security, physical security, and emergency preparedness for rail operations. Typical duties include assisting with security program development and implementation, security inspections and investigations.
Position provides support to a 24/7 day a week operation; may be called back to work due to emergency situations.
The Transit Security Coordinator shall contribute to team efforts and represents Agency core values in the performance of duties.
Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice, Business Administration or related field OR (2) years' of experience conducting security program activities, including security, inspections, investigations.
Preferred Experience- Experience working in a public transit system, All-Hazards Environment, special events
- Prior law enforcement experience and/or corporate security
- Must possess a Valid Arizona driver's license
- Professional Security Certifications preferred

Responsibilities- Works with and monitors contractors engaged in performing security work and fare inspection; ensures adherence to agency security requirements.
- Participates in internal, local and regional security working groups and committees.
- Assists with the Agency Safety Plan (ASP) program safety oversight of contractors and construction projects as required.
- Assists with the Security and Emergency Preparedness Plan (SEPP) implementation and coordination.
- Assists in the maintenance of an annual comprehensive security facility risk and vulnerability assessment and inspection program.
- Assists in audits including but not limited to TSA BASE, ADOT Audit cycle and FTA Triennial.
- Compiles, analyzes, and interprets statistical data and prepares written and oral reports based on incident management software.
- Develops standards, protocols and operating procedures to ensure a secure environment for customers, employees and contractors.
- Builds and maintains rapport with Valley Metro member cities, State Safety oversight, and local law enforcement.
- Analyzes threats and vulnerabilities of agency-owned and leased facilities, including the transit system and its assets; notifies management and applicable stakeholders of risks; provides recommendations to management for mitigating risks; develops and implements plans, processes and/or procedures as required.
- Researches and reviews current and future operational needs; makes recommendations for improving security services.
- May be required to analyze and react to emergency situations, determine the nature of the emergency and contact the appropriate party.
- Manages correspondence from courts; makes appearances in court on behalf of Valley Metro.
- Performs other duties of similar nature and level as assigned.
