Job DescriptionAECOM is actively seeking an experienced Senior Archaeologist/Project Manager for immediate, full-time employment within our Cultural Resources team. This hybrid role will be based in our Phoenix, AZ office.
The Senior Archaeologist is a core member of the Cultural Resources Program in Arizona and the Western US, with responsibility for successfully executing projects and leading all aspects of project implementation. The Senior Archaeologist will serve as a Principal Investigator. Candidate will contribute to growth of team through execution of quality deliverables for clients, as well as supporting business development including participation/presentation at professional seminars and contributing to proposal preparation and/or interviews.
Responsibilities- Managing projects or tasks with small- to large-scale field efforts (survey, testing, data recovery, and monitoring) and intensive schedules.
- Managing and executing archival research, technical report writing, state and federal archaeological permitting, data collection and compilation, and/or GIS mapping.
- Operating as primary author or senior reviewer, as appropriate.
- Supervising personnel in the field, office, and laboratory, as needed.
- Knowledge of state and federal environmental regulatory framework, including the National Environmental Policy Act, National Historic Preservation Act, among others.
- Handling multiple tasks and communicating priorities to manager.
- Operating as primary point of contact for clients and resource agencies on projects, as needed.
- Performing client management duties such as recurring status meetings, milestone check-ins, and day-to-day interfacing.
- Working independently and as part of a team.
- Flexibility and willingness to support multiple projects, including occasional travel.
- Serve as a Principal Investigator.
- Supporting career development of individuals in the practice.
- Contributing to technical approaches and cost estimates for competitive proposals.
- Performing project management duties such as forecasting, tracking, accounting updates, invoicing, progress reports, and scheduling.
- Reviewing contracts for understanding of scope, fee, schedule, and deliverables, and all other contractual obligations.
