General Function

The Licensed Optician creates exceptional value in the lives of customers by delivering Signature Customer Experiences, ensuring customer delight through the key steps of our selling model, developing the optical skills of others, and creating an effective learning environment.

Major Duties and Responsibilities
  • Convey a commitment to providing unsurpassed Customer Service by performing the Sales and Service Process steps.
  • Execute the CEE Service Model through Connect, Explore, and Exceed.
  • Support problem solving and troubleshooting.
  • Engage patients, customers, and fellow associates with technology to enhance experiences.
  • Deliver the Diamond Service Principles and Service Vision.
  • Celebrate Lens Crafters Advantages and lead the location in customer service excellence.
  • Anticipate problems before they occur, investigate underlying causes, and develop long‑term solutions.
  • Assist customers in selecting frames and lenses that best suit their lifestyle, prescription, and budget; recommend solutions to problems.
  • Display patience and courtesy, tracing answers to unfamiliar questions or product inquiries.
  • Assist co‑workers with questions or problems; collaborate readily in group efforts.
  • Act as an optical leadership voice for associates.
  • Educate customers on Lens Crafters guarantees and services, including eyewear care tips, complimentary adjustments, follow‑up services, protection plans, and warranties.
  • Take and record measurements, adjust or fit eyewear with precision, and ensure finished product meets optical standards and customer requirements.
  • Celebrate LC Advantages at dispense.
  • Strive to achieve “Exceptional Results” on Lens Crafters’ annual CEI/Functional Skills aligned with brand priorities.
  • Operate the Point of Sale terminal, inputting customer and prescription information accurately.
  • Process payments per company security procedures, handling credit cards, discounts, insurance, and coupons.
  • Use Order Tracker to support customers receiving Ready‑When‑Promised orders.
  • Maintain a pristine store appearance and display products per company planograms.
  • Foster a positive Store Manager/Macy’s Host relationship that contributes to business growth and customer satisfaction.
Basic Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • State licensure or national certification as an optician.
  • Optical dispensing experience.
  • Knowledge of current optical theory and merchandise.
  • Knowledge of store merchandise assortment and inventory management systems.
  • Strong communication and listening skills.
  • Awareness of current fashion trends.
  • Sales skills; ability to use and carry an iPad or tablet.
  • Comfortable with technology to engage patients, customers, and associates.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Active study of Lens Crafters Quality, Fitting and Adjusting Program.
  • Previous customer service and retail experience.
Pay Range

Pay Range: $34.14 per hour. Employee pay is determined by geography, experience, qualifications, skills, and local minimum wage requirements. A competitive bonus and/or commission plan may be offered.
