About the Role:

The Quality Control Lead is the senior inspection role responsible for supporting quality operations on the production floor and serving as the bridge between QC Inspectors, the Quality Control Supervisor, and Manufacturing. This position provides technical guidance, ensures accurate documentation, oversees inspection coverage and work distribution, and supports daily production priorities to maintain product quality, compliance, and on-time delivery.

The Lead will assist in developing inspection coverage plans, verifying conformance to drawings/specifications, coaching inspectors, and driving quality ownership across departments. This role requires strong technical competency in switch gear manufacturing quality control, exceptional attention to detail, and the ability to lead by example.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform and oversee inspections of incoming materials, in-process assemblies, and final products to ensure compliance with drawings, electrical/mechanical schematics, BOM requirements, UL standards, and customer specifications.
  • Support development of daily/weekly Quality Coverage Plans in coordination with QC Supervisor/Quality Manager.
  • Serve as the primary floor-level QC escalation point for technical questions, visual acceptance criteria, documentation requirements, and NCR decisions.
  • Verify inspection documentation (receiving, in-process, final) for accuracy and completeness; reinforce traceability expectations.
  • Assist in training QC Inspectors on inspection procedures, measurement tools, torque standards, plating/paint criteria, grounding/bonding, electrical component inspection, and documentation practices.
  • Maintain visual standards, checklists, and reference documentation to promote consistency across inspectors.
  • Support MRB containment, NCR documentation, supplier reject tagging, and rework verification.
  • Ensure safety compliance and housekeeping expectations are followed within inspection areas.
  • Assist with continuous improvement, 5S, standardization of inspection work, and corrective action implementation as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in electrical manufacturing or switch gear/switchboard/panel board inspection.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Proven track record of accuracy in documentation, NCR generation, and quality reporting.
  • Proficient in reading electrical and mechanical assembly drawings, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
  • Strong understanding of shop processes—copper fabrication, wiring, mechanical build, bus systems, final assembly, and test preparation.
  • Ability to perform measurements using calipers, micrometers, torque tools, and electrical component verification.
  • Strong communication and leadership capability—able to coach peers respectfully.
  • Organized, detail-oriented, and consistent with paperwork and traceability.
  • Basic ERP system experience (receiving, in-process nonconformance, rework tracking).
  • Comfortable enforcing quality standards and giving corrective feedback professionally.
  • Knowledge of UL 891/UL 1558, ISO 9001 basics, and QC acceptance practices preferred.
  • Technical certifications, IPC/NEC familiarity, or hands-on electrical training a plus.

Physical Requirements:
