A Day In The LifeOversee the treatment of animals, including those that are sick, injured, and abused and are brought in by our nationally recognized Emergency Animal Medical Technicians. Administer excellent patient care in a well-equipped trauma hospital with in-house lab equipment, digital x-ray, and ultrasound. Perform physical exams, diagnostics, therapeutics, and determine appropriate disposition for animals. Treat shelter animals, including general surgery, dentistry, and spay/neuter.
Provide accurate care instructions to a team of veterinary technicians. Serve as a positive leader and promote a professional image through interactions with employees, donors, stakeholders and the media.
- Doctor of Veterinary Medicine or Veterinary Medical Doctor Degree and license to practice in Arizona (or ability to obtain AZ license).
- Active DEA license required.
- 2-3 years of experience in a veterinary practice required.
- Experience working in an animal shelter preferred.
- Above average surgical and dental skills preferred.
- Orthopedic surgical skills a plus.
- Must work well in a team environment and provide exceptional customer service internally and externally.
Language
Skills:
Able to speak, read and write English;
Spanish language helpful.
Mathematical
Skills:
Understanding of retail and cash handling operations required.
Computer
Skills:
Proficiency with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, and Explorer; able to learn other software programs as necessary. Proficiency with or ability to learn/use Chameleon software (for use with animals in a shelter environment).
