Overview

The Arizona Humane Society is a nationally recognized leader in animal welfare, caring for nearly 25,000 pets each year. Since 1957, we've been driven by the belief that every pet deserves a good life, and we are passionately committed to doing what's best for pets and the people in their lives. This position is located at our Sunnyslope Campus.

Role description

If you're a Veterinarian with a minimum of 2 years' experience in general veterinary practice, surgical, or community medicine, and you're eager to contribute to a mission-driven organization, we invite you to reach out to us.

Combine Your Passion with Purpose

At the Arizona Humane Society, we believe that every pet deserves access to veterinary care regardless of their owner's financial situation. As a Community Medicine Veterinarian, you won't just treat pets, you'll protect the human animal bond for those who need it most. Working in our low-cost veterinary hospital, you'll help serve under resourced communities with empathy, excellence, and heart. This is more than a job, it's a calling.

You'll join a mission driven, animal and people-focused organization where we meet clients where they are, financially and emotionally, with zero judgment and 100% compassion. Our clinic culture is upbeat, collaborative, and rooted in respect. We have fun while keeping our focus on what matters most: exceptional patient care. We are seeking a veterinarian who not only supports our mission of accessible care but also brings a deep understanding of the spectrum of care approach.

The ideal candidate is flexible, adaptable, composed under pressure, and a collaborative team player who communicates effectively with both leadership and team members. You will help lead by example on the floor, model our compassionate culture, and support the growth and continued success of our hospital.

Qualifications
  • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine or Veterinary Medical Doctor Degree and license to practice in Arizona (or ability to obtain AZ license).
  • Active DEA license required.
  • 2+ years of experience in general veterinary practice preferred; experience in shelter or community medicine a plus.
  • Strong knowledge and application of the spectrum of care model.
  • Genuine passion for providing accessible, non-judgmental care to underserved populations.
  • Positive, respectful communication style with a collaborative and team first approach.
