Staff Veterinarian – Urgent Care

The Arizona Humane Society is looking for a full-time Veterinarian to work at our Papago Park Campus in our brand new Urgent Care Clinic. Once open, the schedule for this opportunity will be 6 PM - 2 AM – apply today and help make a lifesaving difference!

Job Requirements:

In the hospital/clinic –

  • Must have humane attitude towards animals and the ability to work with a host of personalities in a team environment with a positive attitude.
  • Must possess above average client communication skills and an ability to work efficiently.
  • Evaluate owned animals brought in for appointments. Perform physical exams, diagnostics, therapeutics and determine appropriate medical plan.
  • Provide clear instructions and guidance to all clients to ensure that we set up owners for success.
  • Efficiently give clear recommendations, treatment plans, written discharges and a thorough medical record for each patient.
  • All medical records must satisfy the Arizona Veterinary Medical Examining Board standards.
  • Able to efficiently perform minor surgical procedures.
  • Able to multitask.

Administrative –

  • Create and maintain all medical records in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Monitor, dispense and log all controlled substances according to standards established by the DEA
  • Ensure that all continuing education requirements are fulfilled to maintain your D.V.M. license.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education / Certifications / Licenses:

  • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine OR Veterinary Medical Doctor Degree
  • Must be licensed to practice in Arizona.

Experience:

  • Minimum of one year of experience in a veterinary clinic, ideally in an urgent care or emergency setting.

Other Duties

  • Regular attendance and punctuality are required.
  • Must pass pre-employment drug and background screening to be compliant with DEA requirements for dispensing controlled drugs.

Physical Demands/Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls, reach with hands and arms, climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

There may be occasional wet floors, animal noises, odors, and dander. Most time will be spent in a typical air conditioned and heated environment.
