Within the Scope of Practice, the Family Nurse Practitioner provides in‑patient medical care to patients at the Arizona State Hospital. This position is responsible for medical assessment, diagnosis, and treatment to assist patients, prescribing medication, ordering lab tests and other procedures via the electronic Physician Order Entry system, completing required documentation in the Electronic Medical Record, participating in hospital committees when necessary, assisting in developing policies and procedures, and working with interdisciplinary team members in coordinated care and treatment.

• Conduct provider lines and prescribe required treatment/procedures as required for patients.
• Perform minor surgery and other treatments as authorized by licensure and approved by supervising physician.
• Perform emergency procedures as required.
• Attend hospital committees and medical staff meetings.
• Complete required documentation in the electronic medical record.
• Other duties as assigned related to the position (typically 5% - 10%).

• Performance Management (PM), Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) and Lean methodologies.

• Master of Science in Nursing is preferred.

• Must possess a current and valid license as a Nurse Practitioner from the Arizona State Board of Nursing.
• State hospital employee must be able to obtain a valid level one fingerprint clearance card issued pursuant to A.R.S. 41-1758.07 or apply within seven working days after beginning employment.
• All newly hired State employees must successfully complete the Electronic Employment Eligibility Verification Program (E‑Verify).
