Responsibilities
  • Management:
    Participates in the development of annual budgets that reflect appropriate expenditures for personnel, supplies, and equipment. Manages to budget; monitors variances between budgeted and actual expense reports and takes action to correct negative variances within appropriate time lines. Assists with Kronos/payroll to assure accurate data entry.
  • Staffing and leadership:
    Participates in the interview, selection, and orientation process for new team members in collaboration with nursing management, RN staff, and other team members. Completes appropriate reports and institutes appropriate measures in the event of an unusual occurrence (e.g., patient fall, medication error). Responsible for containment of department costs and conservation of supplies, equipment, and linen. Maintains confidentiality in all department-related issues.

    Evaluates department/service performance against targets and takes appropriate actions. Participates in committees and maintains a state of continued survey readiness. Provides leadership for continued survey readiness.
  • Patient Care:
    Provides patient care according to designated standards and practices. Assists in ongoing monitoring and evaluation of the appropriateness and effectiveness of patient care. Establishes a mechanism to track customer service performance and takes corrective action to address issues.
  • Operations:
    Responsible for day-to-day staffing decisions based on patient needs and caregiver skill level. Develops staffing schedules and posts them within established timeframe guidelines. Guides staff in education and leadership development, including team building, conflict resolution, and delegation. Coordinates orientation and annual competencies for new hires and all employees. Manages employee performance through evaluation and coaching. Conducts staff meetings as needed.
  • Special projects:
    Assists the Director with special projects as delegated.
Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

  • Experience:

    Three years relevant clinical nursing experience.
  • Education:

    Nursing Degree from an accredited nursing school or Bachelor Degree in Nursing.
  • Certifications:

    Current Registered Nurse license in the State of Arizona. CPR required. ACLS as applicable by role.

Preferred Requirements

  • Experience:

    Two years management/supervisory experience.
  • Education:

    Master Degree.
  • Certifications:

    CCRN or PCCN for PCU/Tele/Stepdown; CCRN for ICU/CVICU; CEN for ER; CAPA/CPAN or CNOR for Surgical Services;
    Maternal/Family Health Cert for WIS; RN-BC for Med-Surg; CRRN for Rehabilitation.
