Interventional Radiology APP (NP/PA)

DMG is actively recruiting an Interventional Radiology Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner to join our Radiology Department based at Valley wise Health Medical Center. The IR APP serves as a physician extender to assist in the performance of direct patient care by collaborating with referring physicians, interactions with allied hospital staff, and with patients (inpatient/outpatient) to enhance the section’s clinical presence and to work within a multidisciplinary team.
Responsibilities- Order laboratory and radiographic studies and consult other services as appropriate
- Conduct outpatient and inpatient direct patient care via obtaining history and performing physical examinations, pre- and post-procedural evaluations with documentation, obtaining informed consents, doing consultations and performing inpatient rounds.
- Take medical histories, perform physical exams, diagnose and treat illnesses and evaluate patients in the IR Clinic.
- Develop and manage patient care plans; document progress; assist with follow-ups.
- Help develop, review and manage referrals and perform comprehensive workups.
- Field phone calls or use other means of communication with patients, referring physicians, nurses, and other health care professionals, regarding the coordination of patient care.
- Potential for tele-medicine or virtual health visits.
- Potential to evaluate patients at other Valley wise outpatient sites.
- Handle patient and provider communications regarding care coordination using strong communication skills.
- Educate patients about their conditions, medical care and treatments, assist with patient education, follow up and perform discharge notes.
- Become proficient with Epic EMR.
- Be able to order medications and prescriptions.
- Participate in quality assurance and quality improvement for patient care and potentially assist with training of other health care team members.
- Participate as needed with clinical research.
- Potential to perform minor procedures.
- Experience in Interventional Radiology, Surgery, or Emergency Medicine preferred
