Clinical Nurse Hemodialysis - Outpatient

Phoenix Children’s is hiring a full‑time Clinical Nurse for our outpatient hemodialysis clinic located in Phoenix. The clinic operates from 6:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday, and serves up to four patients at any one time.

As a Hemodialysis Nurse, you will provide education, nursing care, and support to patients receiving multiple treatments per week. You will work closely with the interdisciplinary team to deliver patient‑centered care, maintain strict safety protocols, and ensure adherence to evidence‑based practice and regulatory standards.

• Complete nursing assessments for each patient and identify changes in condition during treatment.
• Provide ongoing education and teaching to patients and families regarding dialysis therapy, medication management, and home care techniques.
• Document patient progress, complications, and outcomes accurately in electronic medical records.
• Administer medications and dialysis treatments according to established protocols.
• Collaborate with the care team during patient rounds and interdisciplinary conferences.
• Supervise and delegate nursing activities to support staff as appropriate.
• Monitor infection control, safety, and equipment use, ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives and provide feedback on clinical processes.
• Perform miscellaneous job‑related duties as requested by the unit manager.

• Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN) or an equivalent nursing qualification (e.g., ADN with RN license).
• Active RN license in Arizona (or a compact state license recognized in Arizona).
• Experience:
  
  At least 1 year of dialysis experience, or 2 years of RN inpatient experience, or 1 year of RN experience with HD/CCHT (Technician) experience is required.
• Fresenius 2008 T machine experience is highly preferred.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association or equivalent.
• Preferred:
  Basic Life Support (BLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certifications.
• Completed required training in AHA CPR, AED, and PALS if working with pediatric patients.

• Ability to lift and carry patients up to 35 lb without assistance; occasional lifting above 35 lb with assistance.
• Must be able to perform fine motor tasks such as pinching and gripping, and use manual dexterity for nursing procedures.
• Standing for frequent periods; able to squat, kneel, and bend repeatedly.
• Reading and writing proficiency; comfortable working on a computer for documentation.
• Experiences with blood borne pathogens, airborne communicable diseases, and exposure to bodily fluids and chemicals in a clinical setting.
• Works comfortably in an indoor office and clinical environment with indoor air quality considerations.
