The RN coordinates nursing care, including direct patient care, patient/family education, and transitions of care. The RN supports professional nursing practice across settings and across the continuum of care to meet the needs of patients and families. The RN operates within the Mayo Clinic Nursing Professional Practice Model, which encompasses planning, implementation, evaluation, and communication of all phases of nursing care for assigned patients.
The RN provides leadership through preceptor roles, informal and formal leadership roles, and quality improvement efforts. The RN delegates patient care based on skill level, experience, acuity, accountability, and resource availability. The RN possesses excellent communication skills, is skilled in mentoring and teaching, and may participate in committees or projects. Some employees may be required to operate a personal vehicle as part of the role.
This role is eligible for TN sponsorship.
Qualifications- Graduate of a baccalaureate nursing program recognized by ACEN, CCNE, or NLN CNEA. If graduated from a non‑accredited program, at least one year of RN experience in an applicable care setting or one year of LPN experience at Mayo Clinic is required.
- All entry‑level associate‑degree RN with RN start date of April 1 2020 or later must provide documented evidence of baccalaureate degree completion within five years from RN start date.
- All entry‑level associate‑degree RN with RN start date prior to April 1 2020 must provide documented evidence of baccalaureate degree completion from an accredited nursing program in accordance with the degree requirement program in place at time of hire.
- One year of RN experience in an applicable care setting or one year of current LPN experience at Mayo Clinic is preferred.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience working in a team environment.
- Computer skills required; prior experience with electronic medical record systems preferred.
- Ability to work flexible hours, which may include days, evenings, nights, holidays, weekends, and on‑call; ability to adapt to unpredictable situations.
- Demonstrated leadership, effective communication, and excellent critical‑thinking skills.
- Current RN license by applicable state requirements.
- Maintains Basic Life Support (BLS) competency.
- Additional state licensure(s) and/or specialty certification/training as required by the work area.
