As an ICU Float Nurse on the Resource Team, you will work on all ICU units at Banner University Medical Center. This includes Trauma Surgical ICU, Cardiovascular ICU, Neurological ICU, and Medical-Surgical ICU. You will have the opportunity to participate in our Nursing Clinical Ladder Incentive Program!

Responsibilities
  • Assess patient physical, psychological, social, spiritual, educational, developmental, cultural and discharge planning needs. Review patient history and physical with patient/family and ensure completion within appropriate timeframe. Review information from other health care team members. Review diagnostics and laboratory data and report abnormal results to physicians and other caregivers. Complete assessment and reassessments according to patient need and policy.
  • Formulate a plan of care, including the discharge plan, using assessment data and input from patient, family and health team. Initiate a plan of care based on patient-specific needs and medical plan. Ensure goals are realistic, measurable and developed with patient/family. Plan care in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team. Review and revise the plan to reflect changing patient needs.
  • Implement the plan of care through direct patient care, coordination, delegation and supervision of the health care team. Provide care based on physician orders and the nursing plan of care, in accordance with policies, standards of care, and regulatory requirements. Delegate appropriately and supervise care by other licensed nurses and personnel. Communicate patient status to other caregivers to promote continuity of care.
  • Evaluate the patient’s and family’s response to care and teaching, and revise the plan of care as needed. Monitor progress toward goals and outcomes in collaboration with the health care team. Assess effectiveness of patient teaching.
  • Document assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation in the patient record. Ensure documentation is legible, timely and in accordance with policy. Include objective/subjective data, nursing interventions and patient response. Record physician orders accurately and timely.
  • Provide care based on the best evidence available and participate in clinical practice research activities as appropriate. Participate in unit or facility shared leadership. Support education, role development and orientation of facility personnel, patients, families and visitors. Promote growth through mentoring and precepting when appropriate.
  • Contribute to high-quality patient outcomes through timely, effective, efficient, equitable and safe care. Participate in improvement of nursing quality indicators and outcomes; engage with professional organizations as appropriate.
  • In some roles, supervise staff and workflow within the department.
  • Interact with all levels of staff, physicians, patients, families and external contacts to coordinate care. Work with other health care providers to report, clarify information and coordinate care. Provide spiritual support as needed. Synthesize and prioritize data to support patient and family needs during health status changes.
  • Minimum Qualifications
    • Must possess a current, valid RN license in the state of practice, temporary/interim RN license in state of practice, or compact RN licensure for current state of practice.
    • BLS certification required. Additional certification or continuing education may be required based on area of practice.
    • Experience in the clinical area for which applying is desired; maintain clinical performance competencies with annual validations.
    • Banner Registry and Travel acute care positions require a minimum of one year experience in an acute care hospital setting, including recent experience in the specialty area.
    • Home Health: must be able to operate a personal vehicle and maintain a valid driver’s license; auto insurance required.
    • Behavioral Health and related Banner sites may require specific clearance cards where applicable.
    Preferred Qualifications
    • Bachelor's degree preferred. Professional certification preferred.
    • Additional related education and/or experience preferred.
