Position Summary

Phoenix Children’s is hiring a full‑time Interventional Radiology nurse to assist with post‑procedure turnover, lunch coverage/support, procedural assistance/support, board runner assistance/support, pre‑op assistance/support, procedural sedation/support. The role includes a scheduled rotating call with a weekday assigned call and weekend day call on Saturday and Sunday. Candidates must have 1–2 years IR experience in a hospital environment and will work with a team of six providers to support 10–12 cases daily.

Successful candidates thrive in a fast‑paced environment and develop critical thinking skills daily to provide the best care for children. NO NEW GRADS, please.

Position Duties
  • Complete nursing assessment of patient conditions consistent with age and condition, including physical, psychological, social, developmental, and educational factors, to determine initial compliance with the treatment plan per policy and unit guidelines. Perform ongoing patient and family assessments and identify variations from diagnoses.
  • Continually evaluate patient responses to care, teaching, and discharge plans. Document patient progress in appropriate charts and share observations and assessment outcomes with the healthcare team and families to ensure timely communication.
  • Contribute to team effort by accomplishing required activities within established parameters to ensure compliance with medication, storage, and documentation standards, regulations, and requirements.
  • Provide orientation to the unit, hospital systems, and processes to patients and family members to ensure familiarity with unit policies and requirements.
  • Supervise patient care activities of assigned team members and delegate activities appropriate to knowledge, skill, and competency. Provide timely feedback and review of care delivery to ensure patient safety, infection control procedures, therapeutic environment, and team members’ performance, maintaining confidentiality.
  • Collaborate with the patient care team and family members to establish and implement plans of care to ensure coordination of activities and ongoing communication of patient health status. Participate in patient care rounds and conferences as appropriate.
  • Foster a positive learning environment by modeling best practices and patient‑centered care while providing guidance, training, and support to students and new employees through mentorship, clinical instruction, and knowledge sharing.
  • Perform miscellaneous job‑related duties as requested.
Position Qualifications
  • Education
    :
    Two‑year (ADN) degree in nursing, four‑year degree (BSN) in nursing, or Diploma Nursing degree. (Required)
  • Additional Education
    :
    Bachelor’s degree in Nursing or currently enrolled in an RN to BSN program. (Preferred)
  • Licensure
    :
    Current State of Arizona RN license or an RN license from a compact state with multistate privileges, or the ability to establish licensure under Arizona law prior to start date. (Required)
  • Certification
    :
    Current BLS certification for Healthcare Provider from the American Heart Association prior to start date. (Required)
  • Experience
    : 1–2 years IR nursing experience in a hospital environment. (Required)
  • Skills
    :
    Ability to provide procedural support, sedation support, pre‑operative and post‑operative care, lunch coverage, and board runner assistance. Strong critical thinking, teamwork, and communication skills.
  • Other
    :
    Must be willing to perform scheduled weekday and weekend calls as part of the rotation.
