Clinical Nurse Attending – PICU Evenings
Join Phoenix Children’s as a Clinical Nurse Attending on our dedicated Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU). This evening shift (Mon‑Fri 3pm‑1am, variable days) supports clinical leadership, quality improvement, and bedside mentoring.

The Clinical Nurse Attending leads clinical management of PICU patients, translating evidence‑based practice into patient‑care processes. This leadership role focuses on mentoring, quality and safety, and collaborative improvement across the interprofessional team.
Responsibilities- Clinical Expertise – Design, implement, and evaluate evidence‑based care processes, utilizing dashboards and real‑time data to improve outcomes.
- Mentorship & Coaching – Guide new and experienced nurses; support the performance of nursing procedures with a focus on safety.
- Quality Improvement – Identify gaps, evaluate handoffs and transitions, and promote a culture of safety using high‑reliability principles.
- Data & Informatics – Collect, analyze, and present data to inform nursing practice and drive improvement initiatives.
- Systems Leadership – Collaborate with physicians, advanced‑practice nurses, and managers to design and implement improvements, ensuring patient‑centered care.
- Collaboration & Communication – Facilitate interprofessional teamwork, shared decision‑making, and effective communication across care settings.
- Health Promotion – Lead prevention and health‑promotion efforts, disseminating practice changes to internal and external audiences.
- Miscellaneous – Perform related duties as requested.
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN) or graduate level. National critical‑care certification (CCRN, CEN, CPN, etc.) required or obtainable within 6 months.
- Experience: Minimum 5 years of direct bedside experience in critical care or related pediatric setting.
- Licensure: Current Arizona RN license or compact‑state license with multistate privileges; valid BLS certification.
- Skills: Demonstrated leadership, quality improvement, data analysis, and interprofessional collaboration.
- Additional Requirements: Ability to work 4/10 shifts, full‑time commitment, and a passion for safety, outcomes, and patient‑centered care.
