Phoenix Children’s opened as a free‑standing hospital in 2002 and has grown dramatically in the past 20+ years. The ED at the main campus sees over 90,000 children a year and is the only free‑standing level one pediatric trauma center in the state. With continued growth, the division is expanding its facilities and training programs, including fellowships in Pediatric Emergency Medicine and Pediatric Urgent Care.
We are looking to expand our UC coverage and are seeking experienced APPs (in addition to physicians) to perform a hybrid of Urgent Care and low‑acuity ED shifts. Providers will evaluate and treat pediatric patients within their scope of practice under the Medical Director’s supervision. The Urgent Care sites can perform plain radiographs; labs include urinalysis, blood sugars, rapid strep tests, and rapid flu (in winter months).
COVID testing is available (not rapid).
In this role you will assess and treat acute injury and illness, perform procedural care such as abscess drainage, foreign body removal, and laceration repair with sutures, staples, and dermal adhesive, and focus on efficiency metrics to improve urgent care flow, patient experience, and throughput.
