LPN Corrections Nurse

Location:
Phoenix, AZ 85027

3 Months

Working Monday - Friday (7.5 to 8 hour shifts), closer to 40 Hours Per Week.

Start Time: 5:00 AM

End Time: 12:30 PM

The following are required for bid submission:

• CPR/BLS Card
• RN License/Certification for position
• TB Skin Test / 2 Step TB Test
• Hepatitis B vaccination or declination of offered vaccine

Job Information:

• The facility population is significantly less than the Adult Correctional Facility.
• The campus is secure and closed, and Youth Correctional Officers are present at all times to ensure safety and security.
• Medication pass (med pass) is conducted door-to-door, utilizing a medication cart.
• You will be working under the supervision of, and in constant collaboration with, a state-employed Registered Nurse.

Job Description:

• Evaluate and respond to youth health concerns; be working under the supervision of, and in constant collaboration with, a state-employed Registered Nurse.
• Advise youth regarding health treatments procedures.
• Obtain and process blood, urine or other specimen samples.
• Monitor, record and report changes in a youth’s vitals or health condition; administer medications to youth.
• Observe youth for potential adverse medication reactions.
• Conduct intake health screenings for newly incarcerated youth; provide direct patient and emergency care to youth; and provide emergency care to staff when necessary.
• Consult and coordinate youth treatment plans with health services team members; obtain medical files and records.
• Maintain medical files and records; and ensure medical supplies and equipment are stocked and accounted for.
• Administer vaccinations; assist with annual tuberculosis (TB) skin tests.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Professional nursing methods and techniques.

• Listen, observe, assess and respond to medical emergencies.
• Evaluate, analyze, make independent decisions.
• Respond to medical issues/inquiries in a professional manner.
• Work with professional and non-professional staff to ensure health and safety of residents.
• Establish and maintain effective work relationships.

Requirements:

• 1+ years RN experience.
• Must possess an active license to practice as a LPN in the State of Arizona.

Preferred:

• Corrections Experience Preferred.
