The Emergency Department Manager provides clinical and operational leadership for a fast-paced, high-acuity environment, serving as the tactical leader for patient care delivery, staff development, and departmental performance. This role partners closely with physicians and interdisciplinary teams to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality emergency care while supporting organizational and system-wide goals.

The ED Manager champions evidence-based practice and quality improvement
, fostering a culture that integrates research, innovation, and best practices into daily emergency care. This position leads and supports the emergency nursing team through hiring, onboarding, coaching, performance evaluation, and staffing coordination
, ensuring appropriate coverage and staff engagement at all times.

Through strong leadership, collaboration, and accountability, the ED Manager drives program development, strengthens physician relationships, improves patient outcomes, and creates an environment where both patients and emergency caregivers can succeed—every shift, every patient.

Qualifications Education

Requires a bachelor’s degree or higher in nursing.

Prefer a master’s degree in nursing.

Experience

Must have at least five (5) years of clinical experience with two to three (2-3) years of demonstrated leadership experience relevant to the patient population and scope of care of the department.

Behavioral Health Departments - Pursuant to Arizona Administrative Code R9-10-306 CHAPTER 10 of the Department of Health Services, personnel must be at least 21 years of age, or at least 18 years of age and licensed or certified under A.R.S. Title 32 and providing services within the personnel member’s scope of practice.

Certification/Licensure

Must possess a current, valid Arizona RN license and be in good standing with the AZ Board of Nursing.

Requires BLS card obtained through an approved American Heart Association (AHA) training center upon hire.

ACLS, PALS, ATNC, or other certifications may be required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Requires the ability to read, write, and speak effectively in English.

Bilingual is preferred.

Ability to work with culturally diverse people is a must.

Must have excellent communication, time management, and customer service skills.

Computer knowledge with Windows based systems is a plus.
