We are seeking a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner to work night triage for our Emergency Medicine Department (Hennepin County Medical Center) – a Level 1 Trauma for Adults and Pediatrics. Starting FTE is flexible (0.60 – 1.0 FTE) with full benefit eligibility at 0.70 FTE. Clinical coverage will be nights 11 pm – 7 am in triage 7 days a week. This role requires sensitivity, knowledge and understanding of diverse academic, socioeconomic, gender, cultural and ethnic backgrounds.
Responsibilities- Perform medical screening exams (MSE) on patients in triage, see and treat less critical complaints that can be discharged from triage.
- Perform physical examination and record history.
- Write and route orders to appropriate laboratory and radiological studies.
- Perform therapeutic and diagnostic procedures as directed by the physician, including venipuncture, starting intravenous lines, suturing lacerations, pelvic examinations and testing, incision and drainage of abscesses, immobilizing fractures and other musculoskeletal problems through splinting and casting.
- Master’s degree from an accredited Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner program.
- Current (or eligibility for) license to practice as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) or Physician Assistant issued by the State of Minnesota.
- Family NP (FNP) certification required for NP candidates.
- Three years of work in an emergency department as an advanced practice provider.
- Preferred:
Five years of experience in Emergency Medicine, at least three years as an Advanced Practice Provider, and knowledge of electronic medical documentation system/software.
Years Since Licensure – Base Hourly Rate – 25% Stipend*
3‑4 Years: $68.21 – $85.26
5‑6 Years: $71.80 – $89.75
7‑9 Years: $73.24 – $91.55
10‑14 Years: $75.39 – $94.23
15+ Years: $77.54 – $96.92
* Stipend is specifically for working straight night shifts in the ED Triage role.
