Position Highlights

The University is looking for Community Outreach Professional II (Program Coordinator) to support the implementation, coordination, and reporting of externally funded projects at the University of Arizona Center for Urban Smart Agriculture.

This position is critical to ensure that grant objectives, timelines, and deliverables are met, and to supporting research, education, and community outreach initiatives focused on urban agriculture, smart farming technologies, and resilient food production systems. The Program Coordinator collaborates with the Center Director, Manager, faculty, staff, community and industry partners, and University units to support the Center's mission and associated grant execution and compliance.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Coordinate day-to-day activities for one or more grant-funded projects, ensuring alignment with approved scopes of work, timelines, and deliverables.
  • Support planning and implementation of grant-funded workshops, trainings, demonstrations, field days, and outreach events.
  • Serve as a primary point of coordination among principal investigators, project staff, industry partners, and community stakeholders.
  • Track project milestones, activities, and outcomes to document progress and grant reporting.
  • Collect, organize, and summarize qualitative and quantitative data for evaluation, impact assessment, and funding reports.
  • Maintain accurate project documentation and records in compliance with sponsor and University requirements.
  • Assist with budget monitoring, purchasing, invoicing, reimbursements, and financial tracking in coordination with Center and administrative staff.
  • Support development of grant-related materials, including reports, presentations, outreach products, and communications.
  • Creatively apply own knowledge, skills, and experience to establish contacts, professional relationship and build collaborations with other agencies and organization to further the mission of the Center locally and nationally in collaboration with the faculty and other staff.
  • Stimulate, and participate in new and existing efforts to secure competitive funds, including grant-writing, budgeting, and reporting with assistance and input from the Center faculty and staff.
  • Participate in team meetings and contribute to continuous improvement of grant-funded programming.
  • Perform other duties as assigned in support of grant objectives and the Center's mission.
Knowledge,Skills, and Abilities (KSAs):
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with different groups/individuals.
  • Knowledge of arid and semi-arid agriculture production.
  • Ability to coordinate programs or projects, preferably in a grant-funded, academic, nonprofit, or government setting.
  • Good organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
Physical Requirements and Environmental Demands:
  • Employee is frequently required to safely lift/move/transport up to 50pounds.
  • Employee may have to perform work outdoors and may not be protected from weather conditions. Temperatures above 100 degrees for more than an hour.
  • Employee may have to experience high levels of noise, vibration, hazards including a variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current, working on scaffolding and high places, or exposure to chemicals in a work setting.
