About Cancer Support Community Arizona

CSCAZ is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that offers no‑cost social‑emotional services to anyone impacted by cancer in Arizona. Founded in 1999, we serve approximately 2,000 patients, survivors, caregivers and family members each year through a Five‑Pillar program that includes support groups, resource navigation, education, healthy‑lifestyle workshops, expressive arts, and social connections. All programs are evidence‑based, led by licensed professionals, and available in English and Spanish in person and virtually across Arizona.

Chief Executive Officer (CEO)

Location:

Phoenix, AZ. FLSA Status:
Full Time, Exempt. Report to:
Board of Directors.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain regular communication with the Board and its committees, providing leadership, timely information, and support.
  • Implement Board policies, build support for Board decisions, and develop periodic strategic planning with Board approval.
  • Drive development, fundraising, and grant management in collaboration with the Chief Mission Officer, cultivating relationships with individual, foundation, and corporate supporters.
  • Ensure financial stability by maintaining healthy cash flow, adequate reserves, and preparing the annual budget with Board approval.
  • Represent CSCAZ as chief spokesperson at media events, conferences, partnership meetings, and national headquarters, and oversee all marketing and public relations.
  • Provide strategic leadership of the organization’s financial, administrative, human resources, operational functions in compliance with legal and policy requirements.
  • Build high visibility to the public and stakeholders, ensuring engaging philanthropy.
Qualifications
  • Five or more years as a CEO, Executive Director, or similar nonprofit leadership position.
  • Strong business acumen and track record of visionary leadership.
  • Commitment to advancing diversity, equity, inclusion, and access.
  • Proven experience executing organizational growth and leading a nonprofit of similar or larger size.
  • Experience working with and leading a nonprofit Board.
  • Familiarity with marketing, public relations, human resources, and related business functions.
  • Ability to recruit, develop, retain, and mentor high‑performance, mission‑driven teams.
  • Excellent written, oral, and public speaking skills.
  • Bachelor’s or advanced degree (or equivalent experience).
  • Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel within the Phoenix metro area and statewide.
  • Ability to work a varied and flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.
  • Commitment to reside in or relocate to Metro Phoenix.
