Maintenance Technician / Mechanic
Overview
PBNA $33.55 / hour. This position is responsible for repairing and installing advanced production/manufacturing equipment. It inspects equipment for proper functioning and performs preventative maintenance per manufacturer specifications. The role may mentor and provide support to less experienced mechanics. Diagnoses equipment malfunctions and makes more complex repairs or adjustments as needed. The candidate must have their own hand tools. The position requires potential weekend/holiday work and continuous work near heat, noise, gas, and chemicals.
The role may involve direct oversight of outside contractors and upgrades to production lines.
ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Perform preventative maintenance on advanced/sophisticated production equipment
- Perform repairs on advanced production equipment as needed
- Perform breakdown analysis
- Upgrade production lines with new/upgraded equipment/technology
- Direct activities of outside contractors working on the assigned line
- Change line for package changeovers
- Enforce GMP, safety, and audit standards
- Work independently under limited supervision (self-management)
- Document work schedule and tasks completed
- 18 years or older
- Pass technical assessment addressing job-critical maintenance knowledge areas
- Experience with basic electrical systems (e.g., starters, fuses, contacts, relays)
- Experience with electrical systems (installation, frequency drive, troubleshooting)
- Experience with product manuals (reading and applying knowledge to make repairs)
- Experience with schematics (electrical blueprints with switches, starters, maps, relays)
- Experience with troubleshooting mechanical breakdowns (pinpointing and fixing)
- Experience with troubleshooting (diagnostics, problem solving, etc.)
- Experience with reading mechanical drawings (hydraulics, pneumatics)
- Experience with mechanical systems (gear boxes, chains, sprockets, motors, seals, bearings)
- Experience with compressors/ammonia systems (refrigeration)
- Experience with conveyors and airveyors (air cylinders, diverters, sensors, motor/speed controls)
- Experience with electronics (level probes, flow meters, drives/VFDs)
- Experience with gearing and gear boxes (rebuilds, parts ordering, machining)
- Experience with hydraulic systems (high pressure cylinders, pumps, valves, troubleshooting)
- Experience with kinematics (line speed/ sprocket size ratios)
- Experience with packaging/high speed production (bottling, consumer products)
- Experience with PLCs (industrial maintenance, computer control systems)
- Experience with pneumatics (solenoids, cylinders, motor brakes, reading, troubleshooting)
- Experience with pneumatics/air compression (valves, cylinders)
- Experience with preventive maintenance (computerized charts/data)
- Experience with pumps (troubleshooting, seals/motors, specs)
- Experience with servo systems (robotic motors, encoders)
- Experience working in team-based environments
