As a Trainee, you will learn valuable skills and join the growing industry of microchips! Microchips are tiny computers inside of many of the devices you use in everyday life - from mobile phones to your refrigerator. You'll get to learn the latest cutting-edge technology at our Phoenix, Arizona campus.
Trainees will go through an 11-week class at the Grand Canyon University (GCU), 3300 W Camelback Rd, Phoenix, AZ 85017, campus beginning September 29, 2025. Classes are Monday - Thursday, 5pm-9:30pm, MST. Tuition is FREE!
Upon satisfactory completion of in-class training , you will receive an offer to join TSMC for a five-week, paid, on-the-job training Basic Training. Basic Training is Monday - Friday from 9:00 a.m.
- 6:00 p.m. Upon satisfactory completion of Basic Training, your schedule will change to compressed work weeks (see below for more information).
The minimum requirements to become a Manufacturing Specialist Trainee are:
- You must be at least 18 years old at the time of application;
- You must already hold a high school diploma or GED;
- You must be eligible to work in the United States and will not need sponsorship in the future;
As a Manufacturing Specialist Trainee, you'll help manage automated systems from your computer in the Manufacturing Command Center (MCC) or inside the cleanroom* (also known as " the Fab"). You'll be looking at multiple computer screens to make sure everything is running smoothly and staying on schedule. If something goes wrong, you'll help fix the issue or work with others to solve it.
We will teach you how!
Your Responsibilities:
- Learn about the processes and keep up with procedure updates by reading documents provided.
- Watch the monitoring system and check for alerts to make sure everything runs smoothly.
- Complete important tasks quickly and safely, following instructions provided.
- Team up with others to fix or solve a problem.
- Must be able to attend every day, M-F from 9a-6p for the first 5-week training session.
- Must be able to work the Compressed Work Schedule (12-hour shifts) after initial training is complete.
- Be comfortable using desktop computers and programs like Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
- Use multiple screens to access different programs and multiple reports that were taught during training.
- Sit and work at a computer for long periods.
- Type quickly and accurately (at least 35 words per minute) on a desktop computer.
- Follow detailed instructions and fill out documents carefully.
- Ability to remember colors, functions, and report types.
* Cleanroom: A clean room is a sterile environment. To minimize dust, skin, or clothing particles, you will wear a suit made of nylon material over your clothes. You will wear booties over your shoes and leg coverings over your shoes and over the legs of your suit. Along with wearing latex gloves, a hairnet, and a mask, you will wear a hood made of the same nylon material with an opening for your eyes.
You will wear safety glasses, and, in some cases, you may need to wear a hard hat. Also known as "the Fab".
