Job Description
As a Quality Control Inspector, you will perform dimensional and visual inspections of shop fabrication, including final paint inspections, weld preparations, and final welds. You will be responsible for ensuring that fabricated materials conform to drawings, shop standards, specifications, and applicable codes. This role involves recording and maintaining in-process and final inspection records for quality assurance and production control, identifying and remedying drawing discrepancies with detailers, and coordinating with customer inspectors during inspection phases.
Additionally, you will inform foremen of defects in fabrication and assist shop personnel with the interpretation of codes, drawings, and specifications.
- Perform dimensional and visual inspections of shop fabrication, including final paint inspections, weld preparations, and final welds.
- Ensure fabricated materials conform to drawings, shop standards, specifications, and applicable codes.
- Record and maintain in-process and final inspection records for quality assurance and production control.
- Identify and remedy drawing discrepancies with detailers.
- Coordinate with customers' inspectors during inspection phases.
- Inform foremen of defects in fabrication.
- Assist shop personnel with the interpretation of codes, drawings, and specifications.
- Proficiency in visual and dimensional inspection.
- Experience with welding inspection and shop fabrication.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
- Knowledge of codes and standards related to fabrication and welding.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- At least 3 years of related experience.
Skills & Qualifications
- Completion of a verifiable vocational or training program may substitute for one year of experience.
- Current or prior CAWI, AWS-CWI, SCWI, or CWB certification preferred.
- Training or experience in metals fabrication, inspection, and testing is advantageous.

Work EnvironmentWork in a metal fabrication shop within a manufacturing environment, surrounded by metal and heavy industrial machinery. The workspace is an open bay with a cover roof, occasionally open to outside elements.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Phoenix, AZ.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $28.00 - $34.00/hr.
