Are you a CNC Swiss Machine Lead with Citizen machine programming and setup experience? If so, we have an exciting opportunity that involves direct support for our Cryogenics, Quantum Computing and Test and Measurement markets.
The Phoenix Company of Chicago, Inc. is seeking an initiative-taking CNC Swiss Manager to lead and implement process improvements in our Machine Shop. The Swiss Manager will direct, manage, and instruct the Swiss CNC, Robodrill, and CAM Machine operators on day-to-day responsibilities and activities within the department. This role is responsible for structuring and managing all Swiss department operations, in support of on-time delivery, continuous improvements, and Company goals.
The CNC Swiss Manager will partner with the Engineering, Quality and Manufacturing teams to implement process, tooling or setup changes and recommend improvement plans to achieve increased efficiency levels.
The ideal candidate possesses an Associate’s Degree or Trade School certificate in precision CNC machining, coupled with a minimum of 7 years of experience in applying techniques that provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities with setting up and operating CNC Swiss type machines. This role requires previous experience working in a manufacturing environment, combined with a minimum of two years’ experience in a supervisory position.
The Swiss Manager will possess expert knowledge of mechanical techniques, tolerance practices, setup procedures, and manufacturing methods to effectively mentor entry level and more experienced level operators in bringing cycle and setup time improvements.
Directs and manages the operational activities of the Swiss department through implementation and compliance with quality and production standards that meet customer requirements.
- Implement changes for improvements to departmental procedures, documentation, manufacturing methods, and machining processes.
- Performs preventative maintenance and physical upgrading of machines.
- Maintains expert knowledge of companies’ main products and manufacturing methods.
- Maintains and ensures a safe working environment through implementation of safety training, policies and programs covering all environmental and mechanical aspects of operations.
- Maintains an efficient workforce trained and capable of meeting quality standards and delivery schedules.
- Verifies employee hours worked, absenteeism, and tardiness through payroll system.
- In conjunction with the Manufacturing Manager and Human Resources, apply disciplinary action to employees not meeting quality standards and performance expectations in the form of verbal warnings and/or written warnings to bring quality improvements.
