Production Machinery Operator

Base pay range: $18.00/hr – $25.00/hr.

Responsibilities
  • Produce machine wood parts by programming, setting up, and operating table saws, CNC routers, and edge banding machines.
  • Understand how to operate and manage table saws, CNC routers, and edge banding machines to produce cabinetry components according to specifications.
  • Set up and adjust machines for each production run, ensuring proper calibration and alignment.
  • Keep up to date with a production schedule.
  • Keep up to date with the Pro Craft product spec guide.
  • Inspect raw materials and finished products for defects and ensure they meet quality standards.
  • Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting on machinery to ensure optimal performance.
  • Use personal protective equipment (PPE) and maintain a clean and organized workspace.
  • Measure and cut wood or other materials to specified dimensions using table saws.
  • Ensure accurate cuts by following technical drawings and measurements.
  • Manage off‑cut.
  • Sharpen and replace saw blades as needed.
  • Adjust guides and fences to ensure precision in cutting operations.
  • Load and configure CNC programs according to production specifications.
  • Set up the CNC router with the necessary tools and materials.
  • Ensure the area is tidy and the dust collector is emptied routinely.
  • Remake damaged parts/pieces as required, and report incidents to the supervisor.
  • Label each part and piece of production for accurate tracking.
  • Operate the CNC router to produce parts with high precision and accuracy.
  • Monitor machine operation and make adjustments as needed to maintain quality and avoid waste.
  • Change and maintain router bits and tools to ensure efficient operation.
  • Perform regular cleaning and lubrication of the CNC router.
  • Set up and operate edge banding machines to apply edge bands to cabinetry components.
  • Adjust machine settings to accommodate different materials and edge banding types.
  • Inspect edge‑banded components for proper adhesion and alignment.
  • Trim and finish edges to meet quality standards.
  • Maintain records of production output, machine maintenance, and quality checks.
  • Maintain material inventory and report to the supervisor or general manager as required.
  • Report any equipment malfunctions or production issues to supervisors.
  • Suggest improvements to processes and equipment to enhance productivity and quality.
  • Participate in training and development programs to stay current with industry advancements.
  • Communicate effectively with team members, supervisors, and other departments to ensure smooth production workflow.
  • Assist in training new operators on machinery operation and safety procedures.
  • Share knowledge and best practices with colleagues to enhance team performance.
  • Good attendance is essential.
  • Two years of woodworking experience.
  • Plan machines by studying work orders, blueprints, materials, specifications, and other resources.
  • Load feed mechanism by lifting stock into position.
  • Verify settings by measuring position, first‑run part, and sample work pieces, adhering to standards.
  • Maintain specifications by observing drilling, grooving, and cutting, including turning, facing, knurling, and thread chasing operations, taking measurements, detecting malfunctions, troubleshooting processes, adjusting and reprogramming.
  • Maintain safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations.
  • Maintain equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; and calling for repairs.
  • Maintain continuity among work shifts by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.
  • Document actions by completing production and quality logs.
  • Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, and decimals).
  • Problem‑solving skill (understanding of machines, peak performance, and adjustments to increase productivity).
  • Good physical health and stamina; ability to lift and slide products weighing 50–130 lbs.
