Graveyard Die Corrector - Phoenix, AZ at Apel Extrusions Ltd

Location: Phoenix, AZ

Shift
  • Graveyard shift:
    Monday‑Thursday, 8 pm‑6 am (depending on training)
  • Schedule will eventually transition to 12‑hour shifts, Monday‑Thursday, 5:00 PM‑5:00 AM
  • Day‑shift training required

Company: APEL Extrusions, Inc. Independent extruder, finisher and fabricator of aluminum extrusions with six extrusion presses and 600,000+ square feet of modern manufacturing space; employing approximately 300 people across Calgary, Canada;
Coburg, Oregon; and Phoenix, Arizona. Serves the commercial, residential, and industrial markets of Western Canada and the Western United States.

Job Summary

The Die Corrector is responsible for ensuring the dies are kept in excellent shape for extrusion and maintaining accurate compliance of the administration of the die process.

Qualifications
  • High School Diploma
  • Mill machine experience
  • Hazardous waste management training
  • Demonstrate understanding of handling hazardous waste

  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Maintain knowledge of fundamentals of extrusion process to diagnose problem dies
  • Hand tool experience for working with dies
  • Experience in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment (desired)
Job Duties & Responsibilities
  • Polishing dies from caustic
  • Repairing dies that are out of tolerance
  • Managing caustic tank; managing rack locations of dies
  • Keeping die shop organized
  • Updating new dies as they arrive at the plant in the computer program (Epics)
  • Monitoring support tooling for damage
  • Signing for delivery of dies and supplies
  • Helping press personnel with running of problem dies
  • Pumping spent caustic
  • Proper labeling of waste
  • Proper disposal of waste
  • Keeping records of inspections, disposal & pumping
  • Any other duties as assigned
