This role focuses on mining project and client management in the AZ/NM area, with opportunities to identify and develop project opportunities, support pursuits, and contribute to HDR mining initiatives and the Resources Business Group (RBG).

The position will provide planning, directing, and monitoring of large multi-discipline projects or medium-sized projects with high technical complexity, including field programs, and may provide technical and project management support on other area resources projects when needed.

Responsibilities
  • Business Development Responsibilities – Key activities include serving as the Client Manager for selected key clients of both Greenfield and Brownfield hard and soft rock mines, including industrial minerals within the area, and maintaining visibility in the industry.
  • Promote broader HDR services to clients with the Resources Business Group (RBG) Manager, Mining Practice Lead, and Mining BD Lead.
  • Work with RBG Manager on development and delivery of area and department market sector initiatives.
  • Lead and/or support selected pursuits through client relationship development and/or development of strategy and participation in pursuit activities.
  • Participate in industry associations and act as a company role-model in business and community organizations, including giving related presentations and participating in panel discussions.
  • Identify key investments (skills, acquisitions and technology) to maintain or drive HDR into a mining industry leadership position.
  • Develop relationships with mining counterparts in other consulting organizations and with senior leadership in key client organizations both on-site and corporately.
  • Develop relationships and collaboration across HDR areas to support mining pursuits.
  • Staff Development Responsibilities – Seek opportunities to enhance practices to win new work and provide opportunities for staff growth and development; lead and/or assist with recruitment of future mining practice employees.
  • Coordinate support between departments and drive technical excellence with Resources business class directors and the Mining Practice to support programs and marketing efforts.
  • Identify needs for new and improved technical services and products to maximize depth and efficiency of the practice.
  • Coordinate staffing/recruiting plans for key hires with the Mining Practice Lead, Mining BD Lead, and Area Manager; assist with local hire onboarding.
  • Identify resource gaps and support talent management and recruiting.
  • Support to Area – Assist the Area Manager and RBG Lead to deliver services within the Industrial sector; drive client management, monitor and act on Industrial sector profit and loss, ensure project delivery, and support QA/QC programs.
  • Facilitate cooperation and remove hurdles to success; implement process improvements and leverage work sharing to meet goals.
  • Be aware of staff workload and promote effective use of company resources; apply staff/expertise to projects.
  • Assist with contract review on key projects to support risk management, proper staffing, quality reviews, and resolution of claims.
  • Promote Quality Assurance/Quality Control and support marketing and project activities with technical leadership.
  • Facilitate development and dissemination of “lessons learned” within Area and Mining Practice; undertake project management and technical assignments as needed.
