Senior Manager of Internal Controls

Job Description

As the Senior Manager of Internal Controls at Honeywell, you will hold a critical leadership position within our controllership team. Your primary responsibility will be to oversee and support the SOX function within the Aerospace business, ensuring a risk‑based control framework aligned with COSO standards that guarantees financial integrity, operational effectiveness, regulatory compliance, and alignment with company policies.

You will report directly to our Sr. Director of Internal Controls and will work out of Phoenix, Arizona on a hybrid schedule.

• Develop and execute a risk‑based internal control framework.
• Identify areas of potential risk and develop strategies to mitigate risk.
• Serve as a technical subject‑matter expert on controls matters, including development, optimization, and documentation of internal controls.
• Collaborate closely with cross‑functional teams—including finance and controllership—to drive process improvements and financial control efficiency.
• Serve as a key point of contact for internal control matters, representing the controllership in discussions with senior management and other stakeholders.

• Bachelor's Degree with a current CPA or equivalent certification.
• Minimum of 6 years of experience in accounting or controllership roles.
• Strong knowledge of SOX, COSO framework, and internal controls over financial reporting.
• Ability to execute a risk‑based approach to assess and enhance design and operational effectiveness.
• Excellent leadership and people management skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a team.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities, with a keen attention to detail.
• Proven track record of driving process improvements and implementing best practices.

• Proven ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, dynamic environment.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize and delegate.
• Continuous learning mindset; passion for staying updated with industry trends and best practices.
• Experience working in a multinational company, with exposure to global accounting and reporting requirements.
• Experience working with a Big 4 or national public accounting firm.
