Purpose Statement:
The job of Assistant Superintendent of Leadership
- Secondary is done for the following purpose/s; providing information and serving as a resource to others; achieving defined objective by planning, evaluating, developing and implementing and maintaining services in compliance with established guidelines; and serving as a member of the leadership team.
This job reports to Superintendent.
Essential Functions- Supervise and evaluate middle and high school principals.
- Supervise and respond to the needs of the daily management of the secondary schools.
- Develop meeting agendas to facilitate the development and improvement of building level leadership.
- Facilitate district long-range planning efforts.
- Coordinate training program for new administrators with the other Instructional Support Assistant Superintendent.
- Prepare drafts of needed Governing Board Policies and Administrative Handbook entries for the Superintendent’s review and action. Provide training on policy implementation as needed.
- Supervise and evaluate the work of the Director of Special Education.
- Supervise and evaluate the work of the Director of CTE.
- Supervise and evaluate the work of the Director of Community Education.
- Supervise and evaluate the work of the PVOline Coordinator.
- Work closely with the other Instructional Support Assistant Superintendent to support the improvement of instruction and student performance.
- Facilitate district oversight for the work of the middle school and high school head counselors and their supervising administrators. Provide oversight for the district’s site‑based counseling programs.
- Administer the Title V grant program.
- Supervise and evaluate the work of the Director of Student Services.
- Supervise and evaluate the work of the Director of Information Technology.
- Interpret the programs, philosophy, and policies of the district to staff, students, and the community at large.
- Maintain liaison with social, professional, civic, volunteer, and other community agencies and groups having an interest in the schools.
- Serve as the District Title IX compliance officer.
- Prepare state reports and claims as required.
- Attend Board meetings and prepare such reports as the Superintendent may request.
- Perform other tasks and assume other responsibilities as assigned by the Superintendent.
Other Functions:
Serves on Superintendent’s Cabinet.
Perform other tasks as may be assigned by the Superintendent for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
SKILLS are required to perform multiple, technical tasks with a need to occasionally upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions. Specific skill based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: operating standard office equipment including using a variety of software applications; planning and managing projects; preparing and maintaining accurate records; and possessing strong written and oral communication skills.
KNOWLEDGE is required to perform accounting and budgeting; review and interpret highly technical information, write technical materials, and/or speak persuasively to implement desired actions; and analyze situations to define issues and draw conclusions.
