Job Description

The Operations Manager is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing and optimizing the landscape company's operations across its Maintenance and Tree/Install divisions. This individual will manageall aspects of estimating, project management, business development, and client relationship management to ensure operational efficiency, profitability, andclient satisfaction. The ideal candidate is a proactive leader with extensive knowledge of landscape operations, a strategic approach to project management,and a passion for growing the business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Estimating and Proposal Development
  • Lead the estimation process, analyzing project requirements, materials, labor, and equipment to develop accurate, competitive bids.
  • Develop proposals and presentations for prospective clients, ensuring alignment with company standards and client expectations.
  • Maintain and refine the estimation database and cost-tracking systems to ensure up-to-date and accurate pricing.
  • Project Management
  • Coordinate project schedules and manage resource allocation across both Maintenance andTree/Install divisions.
  • Monitor project progress,conducting regular site visits to evaluate quality, adherence to timelines, and client satisfaction.
  • Resolve any operational challenges, working collaboratively with division managers and team leadsto ensure a smooth workflow.
  • Client Relationship Management and Business Development
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships withkey clients,ensuring high levels of satisfaction and promoting repeat business.
  • Actively network withinthe community and participate in relevant business organizations to increase visibility and build relationships.
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities, focusing on expanding the company’s client baseand securing long-term maintenance contracts.
  • Collaborate with the leadership team to develop strategic initiatives and marketing plans to enhance company visibility and brand.
  • Operational Leadership
  • Develop and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) across divisions to streamline operations and improve efficiency.
  • Lead, mentor, and motivate team members to achieve high performance and professional growth.
  • Conduct regular performance reviews and provide constructive feedback to maintain aculture of continuous improvement.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations, quality standards, and environmental guidelines across all operations.
  • Collaborate with the finance department to develop and manage budgets, monitor costs, and analyze financial performance for each project.
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities and implement best practices to improve profitability.
  • Prepare reports for senior management on project progress, financial performance,and operational metricsas requested.
Requirements

● Landscape Management, or a related field preferred; equivalent work experience considered.

● Minimum of 7 years of experienceinoperations management within the landscaping and construction/ maintenance industry.

● Strong background in project management,estimating, business development, and client relationship management.

● Extensive experience in managing successful departments and operational financial performance.

● Experience in business development and account acquisitions.

● Proven ability to develop and maintain client relationships and network effectively within business communities to develop new business.

● Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.

● Proficiency in project management software and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Aspire or the like, (ERP, CRMetc.).


Leadership and Team Development: Ability to motivate and mentor teams, fostering aculture of excellence and accountability. Ensure collaboration and transparency within the organization.


Strategic Planning and Execution: Skilled in developing strategies to improve business growth and operational efficiency.


Relationship-Building and Client Orientation: Proven ability to cultivate strong client relationships and proactively engage with the community to drive new business.


Problem-Solving: Proactive approach to addressing challenges, with a focus on sustainable solutions.
