Position: Manager - Nursing Services Neuro Renal Transplant Unit CA8

Position Summary

Phoenix Children’s is seeking a Unit Manager to lead our 48-bed Neuro/Renal/Transplant Unit with 135 team members, including RNs, Clinical Supervisors, and support staff. This BEACON Award-winning unit cares for a diverse Neuro Renal Transplant pediatric patient population, including cardiac, epilepsy monitoring, nephrology and transplant care.

The Manager will oversee patient care, staffing, and quality outcomes while partnering with leaders and cross‑functional teams to support staff, resolve issues, and drive engagement through safety, quality, and committee initiatives.

Requirements: BSN required (Master’s and national certification preferred), 5+ years of nursing with leadership experience (specialty or pediatric background a plus), and proven strength in communication, resilience, adaptability, and team‑building.

This exempt role offers the opportunity to lead a high‑performing, engaged pediatric care team. New grads will not be considered.

Role Overview

The Manager, Clinical Service promotes family‑centered care by subscribing to and supporting Phoenix Children’s mission and values. This position manages, evaluates and supervises operational functions and activities of an assigned area by guiding and supporting staff. The Manager, Clinical Service also serves as a liaison with other departments to plan, implement, communicate, evaluate and coordinate patient care operations across the enterprise, while also facilitating quick resolution of issues to ensure excellence in a family centered care environment.

Education
  • Bachelor’s in Nursing. (Required)
  • Master’s degree in related field. (Preferred)
Experience
  • Five years of experience in the specialty area or with a pediatric patient population to include leadership and / or supervisory responsibilities. (Required)
Certifications
  • Current AZ RN license or an RN license from a compact state with multistate privileges or the ability to establish licensure to Arizona law prior to start date. (Required)
  • Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association. (Required)
  • PALS certification from the American Heart Association within one year of hire. (Preferred)
  • National nursing or related certification (e.g. CPN, CCRN, CNML) (Preferred)
Special Skills
  • Analytical and statistical skills necessary to develop and monitor unit operating and personnel budgets. (Required)
  • Demonstrates critical thinking and problem solving abilities in order to resolve complex clinical, systems and personnel problems and issues which affect the unit and inpatient departments (Required)

  • Must be able to assume 24‑hour accountability for unit coverage. (Required)
