Manager, Wildfire Mitigation is responsible for overseeing the development and implementation of the company's Comprehensive Wildfire Mitigation Plan and programs. Manages the development of short and long‑range wildfire mitigation program plans and coordinates integration of the wildfire mitigation program with other SRP departments and external partners. These partners include the Department of Agriculture, the Bureau of Land Management, the Arizona State Land Department, and other Federal and State agencies.
Collaborates with SRP Transmission and Distribution (T&D), Water and Environmental departments to provide guidance regarding the company's policies and programs for clearance/ fuels reduction for vegetation management programs to maximize T&D reliability and reduce wildfire risk to public and increase customer satisfaction and safety. Manages Wildfire Mitigation Specialists responsible for various aspects of the Wildfire Mitigation Program including tactical response, coordination of field operations, investigation, and analysis.
Represent the company and its wildfire mitigation program in industry working groups and with other external agencies such as regulators and local government officials.
- Assist in the development and administration of fire control strategies, policies and procedures including pre‑suppression, prevention, and detection. Provide direction in the compilation, review, and distribution of wildfire hazard and risk data/ analytics. Collaborate in Incident Command System for wild land fire suppression and prescribed burning operations with agency partners. Assist in the determination of resources required for post‑fire power restoration.
Provide guidance relating to prescribed burns and forest restoration efforts along utility corridors. - Develop, manage, and oversee the wildfire mitigation program to ensure compliance with Federal and State Guidelines, oversee reporting requirements of the program. Serve as the company spokesperson to external agencies or citizen groups on program issues. Perform an annual update to the Wildfire Mitigation Plan.
