Area Mining Lead

Business Development Responsibilities
  • Serve as Client Manager for selected key clients of both Greenfield and Brownfield hard and soft rock mines, including industrial minerals within the area.
  • Promote broader HDR services to clients in collaboration with the RBG Manager, Mining Practice Lead, and Mining BD Lead.
  • Partner with the RBG Manager to develop and deliver area- and department-specific market sector initiatives.
  • Lead or support selected pursuits by developing client relationships and participating in strategy and pursuit activities.
  • Participate in industry associations and serve as a company role model in business and community organizations, including presentations and panel discussions.
  • Identify key investments—skills, acquisitions, and technology—to maintain or drive HDR into a mining industry leadership position.
  • Develop relationships with mining counterparts in other consulting organizations.
  • Establish relationships with senior leadership in key client organizations both on‑site and corporately.
Staff Development Responsibilities
  • Coordinate support between departments.
  • Collaborate with Resources Business Class directors and Mining Practice to drive technical excellence and coordinate technical staff for programs and marketing efforts.
  • Lead the area in identifying needs and opportunities for new and improved technical services and products to maximize practice effectiveness.
  • Work with the Mining Practice Lead, Mining BD Lead, and Area Manager to coordinate staffing and recruiting plans for key hires.
  • Assist local leadership with local hire onboarding as needed.
  • Identify resource gaps and support talent management and recruiting.
Support to Area
  • Facilitate cooperation and eliminate hurdles to success.
  • Collaborate with Area Business Group leadership and Mining Practice Lead to implement process improvements and leverage work sharing to meet or exceed planned goals.
  • Maintain awareness of staff workload and facilitate work sharing within the Industrial sector.
  • Assist with contract review on key projects to ensure risk management, proper staffing, and quality reviews.
  • Promote Quality Assurance/Quality Control and provide technical expertise to support marketing and project activities.
  • Facilitate development and dissemination of “lessons learned” within the Area and Mining Practice.
  • Take on project management and technical assignments as required.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in a professional, architectural, engineering, or closely related field.
  • At least 10 years of relevant experience.
  • Commitment to quality, improvement, and HDR values.
  • Professional or engineering registration and related technical experience.
  • Experience in leading diverse teams.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with area Business Class leaders, operations managers, technical directors, and marketing managers.
  • Strong attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee‑owned culture.
