Starting hourly rate: $25.22. Full pay range: $25.22 to $37.83 per hour.
Valley Metro is offering a hiring bonus of $2,000.00.
Responsibilities- Perform inspections of Light Rail Vehicles (LRVs), components, systems and parts.
- Carry out routine maintenance duties.
- Prepare inspection reports and assist in cleaning activities.
- Support 24/7 operations, including overtime and emergency work.
- Maintain regular attendance and punctuality.
- Prepare documentation: reports, checklists, operator defect reports.
- Log hours and mileage of vehicles.
- Inspect vehicles for visible damage, check fire extinguishers, sandboxes.
- Examine lubricants, fluids, operating pressures, brake systems.
- Check lighting, sensors, switches, fans, batteries, and auxiliary power systems.
- Secure covers and boxes, including exterior skirts.
- Install and remove advertisements, schedules cards, fliers, brochures.
- Assist in cleaning vehicles and shop areas.
- Perform monthly, quarterly, semi‑annual, and annual inspections (panto graph, roof equipment, couplers, brake systems, power supply, HVAC, electrical system, suspension, bumper, truck assembly, video/communication systems).
- Make minor mechanical and electrical repairs, replace vandal shields.
- Comply with all safety policies and procedures.
- Attend safety training and participate in ongoing training.
- Promote a safe working environment and continuous improvement.
- Assist in cross‑training others.
- Perform other duties as assigned or required.
- High School Diploma or G.E.D.
- One year of work‑related experience in inspections, maintenance, or servicing of vehicles, or equivalent education and experience.
- Available to work weekends, holidays, overtime, odd & unusual hours; may be called in on days‑off or for emergencies.
- Physical examination required; safety‑sensitive position.
- Successfully qualify to operate Rail Vehicles and complete Rail Vehicle Operator Safety Training.
- Valid Arizona Driver's License and maintain insurability under Valley Metro's Vehicle Insurance Policy.
- Drug & Alcohol Program: mandatory drug testing (pre‑employment, random, post‑accident, reasonable suspicion, return‑to‑duty, follow‑up).
- Background investigation and pre‑employment drug screening required.
- Medical examination and physical examination required for safety‑sensitive positions.
Typical duties include climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing, and repetitive motions.
Medium work: exert up to 50 lbs occasionally, up to 20 lbs frequently, up to 10 lbs constantly.
Work is performed in a shop environment and outdoors in varying weather, including extreme heat and cold. Exposures include electrical hazards, chemicals, grease, oil, dust, fumes, smoke, gases, loud noise, and vibrations.
