The Director, Supply Chain, is a strategic and operational leader responsible for end-to-end supply chain performance. This role partners closely with executive leadership, finance, operations, and global sourcing teams to ensure supply, cost competitiveness, inventory optimization, and supplier excellence in a highly complex, capital-intensive manufacturing environment.
This leader will establish and govern site-level supply chain strategy, procurement policies, inventory and materials management, supplier partnerships, and compliance frameworks to support production continuity, achieve margin objectives, and deliver long-term growth.
Key ResponsibilitiesStrategic Leadership & Governance
- Execute the end-to-end supply chain strategy including procurement, sourcing, inventory management, warehousing, logistics and supplier performance in collaboration with the Global Category Directors.
- Establish and enforce site procurement and supply chain policies
, ensuring alignment with corporate, finance, and regulatory requirements. - Serve as a trusted advisor to executive leadership, providing data-driven insights on cost, risk, capacity, and supply continuity.
- Direct all site-level sourcing activities
, including raw materials, capital spares, MRO, services, - Develop and execute cost reduction and value engineering strategies to support margin and profitability targets.
- Lead negotiation and approval of high-value, long-term supplier contracts
, ensuring favorable commercial terms and risk mitigation. - Collaborate with Global Sourcing to align on commodity strategies, supplier consolidation, and best-in-class sourcing practices.
- Define and govern inventory policies
, stocking strategies, spend targets, and service-level objectives to meet production demands while minimizing working capital. - Ensure accurate tracking, reporting, and optimization of raw materials, parts inventories, and alternative stocking programs
. - Establish best practices for stockroom operations, warehousing, and material flow to support high-mix, high-reliability manufacturing.
- Establish and maintain strategic supplier partnerships
, including site-specific and critical suppliers. - Implement supplier performance management frameworks covering quality, delivery, cost, and sustainability.
- Monitor and manage cost, schedule, and performance of major subcontracts and outsourced services
. - Proactively identify and mitigate supply chain risks
, including capacity constraints, geopolitical exposure, and single-source dependencies. Sustained production continuity with minimized supply risk
- Act as a key liaison across Quality, Manufacturing, Process Engineering, Test Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Production Control, Finance, and Operations
. - Partner with Finance to ensure compliance with spend authorization, capital planning, and budgeting processes.
- Lead cross-functional initiatives to improve supply chain resilience, responsiveness, and operational efficiency.
- Build, lead, and develop a high-performing supply chain organization; ensure
succession planning and cross-training for business continuity.
- Set clear performance expectations, KPIs, and accountability for supply chain teams in a fast-paced Manufacturing environment.
- Exemplify a strong sense of urgency in securing spare parts for machine down events to quickly restore critical tools to operational activity.
- Drive continuous improvement using lean, best-in-class supply management practices
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Engineering, or a related discipline required; MBA or other advanced degree strongly preferred.
- 10+ years of progressive leadership experience in supply chain, procurement, or strategic sourcing within advanced manufacturing or highly technical industries.
- 7+ years of senior leadership experience, including managing managers and leading complex, cross-functional organizations.
- Proven track record of delivering measurable cost reductions, ensuring supply continuity, and optimizing inventory in high-volume and/or high-mix manufacturing environments.
- Extensive end-to-end experience across supply chain operations and commercial procurement, including material planning, purchasing, domestic and international logistics, and project management.
- Strong executive presence with the ability to influence at all organizational levels and drive initiatives that directly impact profitability and operational performance.
- Deep understanding of complex manufacturing supply chains, capital equipment spares, and highly technical global supplier ecosystems.
