The Senior Specialist, Senior Buyer will report to the Associate Director, Procurement, and will align with the pharmaceutical operations network strategy. You will work with cross-functional stakeholders (Operations, Supply Chain, site and network teams) to lead and execute operational buying, procurement, inventory management, and warehousing & logistics activities. This is an end-to-end supply chain role that supports on-site manufacturing continuity and requires the ability to manage multiple priorities with attention to detail and strong written and verbal communication skills.

The role emphasizes autonomous work and collaboration in a team environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Comply with all Security guidelines, Environmental, Health and Safety regulations, and current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) applicable to the job function.
  • Interpret and analyze Material Requirements Planning (MRP) demand requirements and plan/procure categories such as Finished Product, Bulk Product, API, Raw Material, Components, Operating Supplies, Equipment, and Maintenance supplies for the Phoenix facility.
  • Maintain knowledge of inventory management concepts (cycle counts, expediting, order placement, logistics) and apply them to procurement activities.
  • Manage reorder point planning, supplier communications, and contract execution within the scope of material planning.
  • Maintain system planning parameters (lot size, lead time, safety stocks) and track through the material control checklist.
  • Investigate and perform root cause analysis on supply disruptions or material quality issues; report corrective actions.
  • Manage expiration dates and implement mitigation plans to prevent expiring material.
  • Identify, escalate, triage, and resolve material shortages before they impact production.
  • Support new product launches and special projects by planning adjustments and ensuring specifications are in place and approved by suppliers.
  • Coordinate product transportation between manufacturing sites, third-party logistics providers, and customers; coordinate import/export activities.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders across Supply Chain, MS&T, Manufacturing Ops, Engineering, and Finance/Admin to ensure seamless customer service.
  • Lead direct material strategic category initiatives for the Phoenix site in alignment with Global Procurement category leaders and Site Supply Chain Lead.
  • Achieve and exceed metrics including value beyond savings, savings avoidance, cost reduction, and invoicing compliance.
  • Support and lead sourcing activities related to supplier qualifications, readiness, assessment, and execution of projects including tech transfers.
  • Support supplier risk assessment across direct materials; work with global teams on segmentation of key relationships.
  • Negotiate direct and indirect sourcing in compliance with global policies; participate in RFPs and supplier selection processes.
  • Develop effective relationships with key suppliers to foster mutual respect, trust, and performance in line with BMS values.
  • Support timely completion of activities related to direct material supplier notifications, change control requirements, and supplier change notices.
  • Support Impact Assessments for new product launches and new suppliers; interact with Compliance, Supply Chain, QA/QC, and Manufacturing Technology to meet change control needs.
  • Collaborate with Supplier Quality to support Supplier Alerts for direct materials.
  • Support purchase price variance (PPV), work order variance (WOV), Projection 1 (P1), Budget and Projection 2 (P2) for direct material financial monitoring.
  • Travel as required (up to 10% of the time).
