Responsible to purchase items and services at the most favorable price consistent with quality, quantity, specification requirements, and other factors.

• Responsible for purchasing and negotiation materials, equipment and supplies from vendors.
• Assists in the selection of particular vendors. Evaluates vendor quotes and services to determine most desirable suppliers.
• May be responsible for locating or promoting possible new sources of supply. Researches new vendor prices, prepares a through written bid and prepares analysis for negotiation and decision making.
• Procure miscellaneous tools, construction equipment, replacement and repair parts, supplies and materials ordered from the field. Occasionally responsible to lease equipment. Expedites requirements as needed.
• Establishes route and priorities for Truck Drivers on a daily basis.
• Maintains miscellaneous tool and material inventory levels.
• Audits purchase orders for delivery dates and maintain contact with vendors to insure delivery of materials when promised.
• Returns unacceptable products to vendors and have contact with departments originating orders to keep them informed regarding status of order.
• Is expected to keep abreast of market trends, changes in business practices in the assigned markets, new or altered types of materials entering the market, etc.
