Our law firm concentrates its practice in contested and uncontested probate, trust, developmental disability and mental health law matters, including guardian ships, conservatorships, decedents' estates, trusts, and the exploitation, abuse and/or neglect of vulnerable adults. We are committed to providing compassionate, high-quality legal services to protected persons, families, trustees, personal representatives, and fiduciaries throughout Arizona. We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced full-time Paralegal to support our practice.
Position OverviewThe Paralegal will be the hub managing active court matters from intake through closing. This position requires strong knowledge of Arizona probate procedures, excellent drafting and organizational skills, and the ability to handle sensitive matters with professionalism and empathy. The ideal candidate will be a highly motivated, proactive, organized individual with superior analytical ability, judgment, and research skills as well as the desire to provide exceptional client service.
We’re looking for a self-starter with excellent interpersonal skills, and a team player with a positive attitude. Experience in probate and estate and trust litigation is a significant plus, but not required.
- Draft and prepare pleadings related to Arizona probate matters, including:
- Petitions, Motions, Notices, Orders, Letters, Proof of Mailing, and Closing Statements
- Annual Reports, Accountings, and Inventories
- Petitions, Motions, Notices, Orders, Letters, Proof of Mailing, and Closing Statements
- Draft and prepare disclosure and discovery documents.
- File pleadings with Arizona Superior Courts (including e-filing) and monitor case status.
- Track and manage all case deadlines, including discovery and litigation deadlines, statutory deadlines, reporting requirements, and court orders.
- Communicate with clients, witnesses, attorneys, court personnel, physicians, fiduciaries, and care facilities.
- Maintain and organize electronic and physical case files.
- Assist attorneys with trial preparation and hearings as needed.
- A certificate of completion from a paralegal program approved by the American Bar Association is preferred.
- Minimum of 3+ years of pre-litigation and litigation paralegal experience (probate preferred).
- Substantive knowledge of the litigation process and rules of procedure. Specific knowledge and experience with the Arizona Rules of Probate Procedure, and Arizona Revised Statutes titles 14, 36, and 46 is ideal, but not required.
- Strong drafting and proofreading skills.
- Familiarity with Arizona e-filing systems.
- High attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines and cases simultaneously.
- Professional demeanor and sensitivity when working with vulnerable populations.
- Experience with Microsoft Office software, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint; and experience with Amicus Attorney preferred, but not required.
