Job DescriptionOur client is seeking an experienced Associate Attorney to support a growing civil litigation practice. This role is ideal for an attorney looking to step away from traditional billable-hour models and into a contingency-based environment focused on high-impact cases. The position offers meaningful courtroom exposure, collaboration with senior attorneys, and a clear path for professional advancement.
Key Responsibilities- Manage and advance civil litigation matters from early case development through resolution
- Draft pleadings, motions, discovery responses, and legal memoranda
- Conduct and defend depositions, including expert depositions
- Prepare for and participate in hearings, mediations, and trial proceedings
- Partner closely with attorneys, paralegals, and support staff to ensure efficient case handling
- Maintain accurate case documentation and comply with procedural deadlines
- Active license to practice law in California AND Arizona (priority)
- Additional consideration for attorneys licensed in WA, NM, UT, OR, CO, or NV
- 5–15 years of civil litigation experience (8–10 years preferred)
- Strong background in civil litigation required; insurance defense experience is a plus
- Excellent legal writing, analytical, and advocacy skills
- Trial experience (preparation, second chair, or lead) preferred but not required
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office; experience with legal document management or practice management systems is a plus
- Hybrid onsite schedule with flexible hours (most attorneys work between 7:00 AM – 6:00 PM)
- Reports to a group of senior ownership attorneys
- Interview process includes two in-person rounds with firm leadership
