Associate Conflicts Counsel – Phoenix Office, Snell & Wilmer

Snell & Wilmer, one of the largest and most prestigious law firms in the Western United States, is seeking an Associate Conflicts Counsel for its Phoenix office. This dynamic position involves knowledge of all aspects of client operations and interaction with attorneys and staff across eleven states. The ideal candidate will have a strong knowledge of ethical rules, analytical skill, and strong attention to detail.

Responsibilities
  • Review and analyze conflict report results, including gathering facts to clear conflicts.
  • Monitor changes, updates and developments to ethical rules and analyze the impact on the firm.
  • Work closely with Conflict Counsel, Associate Conflict Counsel, General Counsel, the Executive Committee, the Ethics Committee and Loss Prevention Counsel as necessary.
  • Review waiver letters, joint representation letters and engagement letters to confirm compliance with firm policies and ethical standards.
  • Work closely with all firm staff and attorneys to ensure compliance with firm policies and ethical standards.
  • Assist the recruiting department with conflict issues relating to new attorney and staff hires.
  • Review and provide comments on Outside Counsel Guidelines, requests for proposal, client-generated engagement letters and other documents the firm is asked to sign.
  • Work closely with client intake on the review of new matter submissions for compliance with firm policies and ethical standards.
  • Assist with the preparation of ethical walls.
  • Create and participate in training sessions for firm attorneys and staff as required.
  • Provide backup support for audit letters.
  • Review marketing materials to confirm compliance with ethical standards.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the firm’s General Counsel or Conflicts Counsel.
Experience and Qualifications
  • Juris Doctorate (J.D.) degree, required.
  • At least three years of experience as a practicing attorney.
  • Active admission and in good standing with the Arizona Bar Association.
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, problem‑solving, and decision‑making skills and advising.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure, manage sensitive and confidential information, and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, a high degree of interpersonal skill, with strong attention to detail.
