The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania is seeking an experienced Monitoring Consultant to support enterprise IT monitoring, automation, and observability initiatives across hybrid (on-prem and cloud) environments. This role will serve as a subject matter expert on monitoring tools, automation-first practices, and ITSM-aligned operational processes.

• Design, implement, and enhance enterprise monitoring and observability solutions
• Automate monitoring workflows to reduce manual effort and improve service reliability
• Support Azure and on-prem infrastructure monitoring (agents, APIs, SNMP, WMI)
• Develop and maintain SOPs, runbooks, service maps, and monitoring documentation
• Integrate monitoring data with Service Now for incidents, changes, and problems
• Track SLAs, MTTR, root cause analysis, and operational performance metrics
• Collaborate with Change, Incident, and Problem Management teams (ITIL aligned)
• Support disaster recovery planning and monitoring validation
• Ensure compliance with Commonwealth IT policies and standards

• 5+ years of experience in IT infrastructure monitoring, automation, or observability
• Strong proficiency in Power Shell and one scripting language (Python, Bash, or SQL)
• Hands‑on experience with Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, KQL, Ansible
• Experience with Azure Automation and CI/CD pipelines
• Monitoring tools experience: SCOM, Squared Up, Dynatrace, Datadog, or Splunk
• Experience with Service Now or similar ITSM platforms
• Knowledge of API integrations and secure authentication
• Understanding of ITIL practices (Change, Incident, Problem Management)
• Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, or related field

• Azure certifications (Administrator or Solutions Architect)
• ITIL 4 Foundation or higher
• Disaster Recovery planning and testing experience
• Performance tuning and monitoring dashboard experience

• Candidate must agree to hybrid work requirements
• Candidate must live within commuting distance of Harrisburg, PA

This is a long-term contract with potential extension.
