Overview

The QA Business Analyst is critical to ensure development work is the correct work to meet the business need/objective, clearly defined, and that a full end-to-end solution is identified, agreed, and understood by both the BI development team and the business users/clients. The QA BA reviews business-facing assets produced by the BI team analysts against user acceptance criteria for accuracy and completion prior to publishing to the business.

This role also interacts with business stakeholders for any needed follow up once the asset has been delivered.

The Business Intelligence function acts as a center of excellence involving the identification, requirements gathering, development and ongoing maintenance of reports, dashboards, visualizations, and models for the organization. This high-visibility position will interact with data analysts, data engineers, data modelers and data scientists to understand solutioning details as they relate to satisfying business requirements. This role will also collaborate with other matrix teams to understand and communicate solution feasibilities and constraints.

This role will support Desert Financial, as well as other Switch Think clients.

The QA Business Analyst also acts as a backup/overflow to other team members to support intake and requirement discovery. This includes managing ticketing queue and the documentation of detailed technical requirements and user acceptance criteria. This role will also be pivotal in the creation of internal team documentation relevant to data warehouse and SDLC practices.

What you will do here
  • Validate quality and accuracy of business-facing assets against user acceptance criteria. Coordinate with technical teams to ensure that requirements are understood and implemented correctly. Work with business/analysts on any identified defects or performance issues. Follow up with requestors to ensure proper usage and adoption. Develop test cases specific to business requirements. Develop and maintain a suite of regression test plans.
  • With minimal supervision, work with end users, product owners and clients to elicit, analyze, and document business requirements, ensuring they are clear, complete, and aligned with the organization's goals. Facilitate discussions to understand the business need of the request and discuss and confirm options with the team to learn more about what is possible and recommend solutions for approval.
  • Consult with the requestor/team/leadership to think through the aspects of the request to uncover hidden requirements, end user experience, up or downstream impacts, related system impacts, member impacts, etc., while keeping focus on timely deliverables.
  • Translate requests/projects into technical requirement definitions including all the requirements from the business/end user perspective(s) focusing on the problem(s) being solved and covering the who, what, when, where and why as well as deviations that may be required. Work with Data Analysts to add in any missing technical details required and assist with documentation that needs to be created.
  • Participate in review of requirements written by others or as needed and work with the team to identify documentation required. Help create diagrams, flowcharts, wireframes and other documentation for development and create/update support documents as needed and, if required, assist in the transition of support at the end of the project for review. Facilitate working sessions and confirm that required technical documentation is completed as needed and that test cases and QA needs are documented/communicated throughout the project.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned, including development and maintenance of Business Intelligence standards and artifacts.
What you will need
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Information Technology or related field (required).
  • Master’s Degree in Business or Information Technology (preferred).
  • 3+ years experience in a business analyst role (required).
  • 2+ years consecutive, hands-on IT project experience in a fast-paced environment, managing ongoing work and multiple medium-large complexity projects at once with minimal oversight…
