This team is leading a major state agency modernization effort called MAX Operations, a project that has essentially solved the DMV problem. Everything is fully digital, cleanly formatted, and supported by AI-driven camera agents, creating an experience where people can get in and out of an Arizona DMV in under 15 minutes.
They are hiring a Data Engineer with strong Azure SQL experience to help build, migrate, and stabilize the next generation of data systems. You will play a key role in moving legacy DMV data into a modern, cloud-aligned architecture that powers this new digital workflow.
What You Will Do- Lead and execute database migrations from legacy systems into the new MAX Operations platform
- Work across both Azure SQL and Microsoft SQL Server environments
- Support new ETL pipeline development, performance tuning, optimization, and troubleshooting
- Collaborate with developers and architects to ensure data structures support redesigned workflows
- Ensure reliability, security, and long‑term stability of the updated DMV data infrastructure
- Strong experience with Microsoft SQL Server
- Hands‑on experience with Azure SQL
- Background in data migrations and or net new database development
- Ability to operate within a large‑scale modernization project
